Yesterday a 12-year-old at Silver Sands Middle School reported someone sent her Snapchat messages demanding nudes or else he'd shoot up her school next week. The messages included pictures of guns and details about her class schedule and her friends. There were deleted messages she said were explicit images from the suspect. We coordinated with the Port Orange Police Department, started an investigation, conducted interviews, contacted Snapchat and T-Mobile for user info, did more interviews. We notified the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children due to the allegations of a minor being solicited. What we found out was that our 12-year-old victim created the Snapchat account and sent the threatening messages to herself.
