Narrated by Abū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه: Allāh's Messenger ﷺ said, "There is a compulsory Ṣadaqah (charity) to be given for every joint of the human body (as a sign of gratitude to Allāh) everyday the sun rises. To judge justly between two persons is regarded as Ṣadaqah, and to help a man concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride it or by lifting his luggage on to it, is also regarded as Ṣadaqah, and (saying) a good word is also Ṣadaqah, and every step taken on one's way to offer the compulsory prayer (in the mosque) is also Ṣadaqah and to remove a harmful thing from the way is also Ṣadaqah."

Righteousness is not in turning your faces towards the east or the west. Rather, the righteous are those who believe in Allāh, the Last Day, the angels, the Books, and the prophets; who give charity out of their cherished wealth to relatives, orphans, the poor, needy travellers, beggars, and for freeing captives; who establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and keep the pledges they make; and who are patient in times of suffering, adversity, and in the heat of battle. ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-ʿAbbās رضي الله عنه reported:
He spent (one night) in the house of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ.
He (the Prophet ﷺ) got up, brushed his teeth and performed ablution and said:
"Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the day and night there are signs for people of reason." [Sūrah Āli ʿImrān, Verse 190], to the end of the Sūrah.
He then stood up and prayed two rakʿah, standing, bowing and prostrating himself at length in them. Then he finished, went to sleep and snored.
He did that three times, six rakʿahs altogether, each time cleaning his teeth, performing ablution, and reciting these verses.
Then he observed three rakʿahs of Witr. The Muʾadhdhin then pronounced the ʾAdhān and he went out for prayer and was saying:
"O Allāh! place light in my heart, light in my tongue, place light in my hearing, place light in my eyesight, place light behind me, and light in front of me, and place light above me, and light below me. O Allāh! grant me light."

Allāh's Messenger ﷺ said, "Give (in charity) and do not give reluctantly lest Allah should give you in a limited amount; and do not withhold your money lest Allah should withhold it from you."
