Your Strategy Isn’t the Problem Every time I’ve asked my audience about their trading problems… The same issue comes out as number 1. Strategy. Most traders obsess over it. And when they finally find one that works, It doesn’t last. So they go back to the drawing board, only for whatever they find next to stop working too. It’s an endless cycle. I've got to admit something. Time... The number 1 reason traders tell me they can't be profitable. ”I have a full-time job” ”I need to do the school run” ”I’m moving house” Every one of these is a reasonable excuse. Trading around a full-time job, family or both is difficult and anyone that tells you otherwise is lying. So for years, I tried to help traders who made these excuses. I'd explain that no successful trader started with unlimited free time. That the skill of trading IS building the discipline and mental bandwidth to commit time consistently to trading. That it requires periods of sacrifice. Until one day, I decided to stop helping. Not because they’re wrong about it being difficult. But because the moment a trader decides their version of “difficult” is unique, that their job or their family makes them the exception… they’ve already lost. The fact it’s hard isn’t what holds a trader back. It's the belief that it's harder for them than anyone else, AND that overcoming that difficulty isn't their responsibility. And no amount of training can fix that mentality. So now, when someone tells me they don’t have the time, I don’t argue. But to those who say “I know it will be hard but I’m going to try anyway”: Yes, you'll struggle to find consistency at first. Yes you'll have to prioritise your life to free up time. And yes, you'll be the ones rewarded with a skill to make a consistent income, from anywhere in the world. Time for a change… Three years ago, I made one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. My advice… Tomorrow, I’ll be dropping 5 insights that would have benefited me the most when I started trading. Today… I want to share the ONE most important piece of advice, and the journey I went through to gain that insight. The principle: Simplicity. I started trading when I was studying maths at university. That background made me analytical. So I looked for the “right” thing. The right trading strategy, the right style, the right indicator. Each time I tried to improve, I looked at what I would need to ADD in order to make my trading more accurate. Over time, my trading got increasingly complicated. But it never resulted in increased profits. I was frustrated because I knew so much... but it didn’t seem to matter. So I decided to try the opposite… To SUBTRACT. I got rid of everything I possibly could until I was trading with only 1 simple set of rules that any beginner trader could follow. And finally I saw the results I was looking for. I had a solid foundation that allowed me to improve and soon… I was making MORE money by doing less. So if I could send a message to myself 9 years ago, I’d say: Simplify. Build a set of rules that is the bare minimum required for you to be consistent. Then improve. That’s 1 piece of advice. For the rest of the 5, you’ll need to wait for tomorrow. See you then. AK Updates July 2026 The last time I updated everyone was 2 months ago. I'd love to write a fresh intro about how the market is in a completely different position... but it's not. People who already have the skills never stopped making money. Either way, I'm still here, and I'm continuing to double down on this community.
