OPINION PIECE: Are you familiar with ‘Project Bruce’. This stands for Better Road User Charging Evaluation and is a proposed pay as you drive scheme. This project which is led by Transport Initiative Ireland is looking for ways to replace revenue lost in expected dwindling tax receipts due to the presumed shift to electric motoring. This loss in diesel and fuel tax is estimated to be between €1•5 and €3 billion. The proposal is to replace it with a scheme that charges you per mile. Based on BRUCE proposals it is estimated that a trip to Cork would cost €163 and a trip to Maynooth €38, again one way. At this point it is unclear the level of exemption if any that would apply to electric vehicles. There is also the possibility of adjusting the amount you pay to take account of your proximity to public transport.
Zero Emissions Vehicles Ireland is another government organisation tasked with implementing the ‘Climate Action Plan 2023’. Their responsibility is to ensure that 30% of all cars on Irish roads will be electric by 2030. Its modus operandi is a mixture of arm twisting and grants. The grants are being rapidly diminished, €6,000 to €3,000 for a new electric car and €600 to €300 for a home charging kit. The emphasis going forward will be compulsion and bullying of the motoring public to change to electric.
This change to electric is faltering. There were 41% less electric vehicles registrations during April 2024 than in April 2023. Overall EV registrations are down 19•1% for the first four months of 2024 compared to the first four months of 2023. This decline is called consumer choice. People will select a product on price, reliability and simply is it the right fit for what you want to use it for. If your vehicle was to be exclusively used for taxiing within a metropolitan area there could be a good case to go electric if the price and grants were right. But that is not the requirement of most of us. Most would consider electric vehicles to be an inferior product, overpriced and inflexible and occasionally subject to spontaneous combustion due to its lithium battery. Is it any wonder that the public are voting with their pockets and buying conventional cars despite the financial inducements. This year alone there has been. 6% rise in registrations of conventional cars. Clearly this is a major disappointment for those who promote electric cars. The time has come to punish the motorist and ‘Project Bruce’ will do just that with punitive motoring charges. This is government policy in the mad dash to obey the Paris Protocols on climate that our government has signed up to without consulting the people by referendum.
But the real motoring agenda bypasses the electric car. The climate fanatics view all human activity from having children to travelling as upping the carbon footprint. All human activity must be minimised and curtailed. In a fifteen minute city you will not need an electric car or any car. You may not like your fifteen minute zone but it may well be made prohibitively expensive to stray out of it. It your choice but it is also your pocket. Remember the €38 one way ticket to Maynooth. How often will you be going. And of course, remember your social credit score. When the green digital currency comes in and you exceed your carbon credit allowance just try charging your electric car, you may be in for one big surprise, you can’t charge until next week.
This represents the ultimate in control. The electric car is an interim solution but the real solution is not to travel at all and if totally necessary for job related reasons use public transport only. Project BRUCE itself will become as obsolete as the motorways as people are forced into fifteen minute ghettos to conserve their carbon credits which will be policed by ‘green’ fanatics subservient to the pseudoscience of man made climate change. Merck ranks third on the list of most-fined drug manufacturers with $10.7bn fines to date, and by 2009, had paid over £2billion compensation to 44,000 US citizens because its arthritis drug Vioxx increased the risk of heart attacks. Now, in a shocking case brought under the False Claims Act, a 200-year-old law introduced to protect the US government from fraud, it admits falsifying data relating to the mumps component of its measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination.
Merck*, which annually sells $100million (£78million) MMR doses in the US, told the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the US public health body who purchase it, and the Food and Drug Administration, (FDA) who licensed it, that it provided children with 95 per cent protection against mumps. That figure could be as low as 50 per cent or even zero.
From 2000, increasing mumps outbreaks amongst the fully vaccinated and boosted prompted the FDA to instruct Merck to prove the 95 per cent protection claim, otherwise they would lose their licence. Merck re-ran the numbers and fell way short. They designed a test to measure effectiveness – Protocol 7 – that included rabbit’s blood in the hope it would falsely enhance the sensitivity of it.
