The Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP) hosted this year's opening ceremony for 75 interns on May 31st at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent. Deputy Chief of Mission Paul Poletes from the US Embassy Tashkent and American Councils Country Director William O'Roark delivered opening remarks and warmly welcomed the participants. This transformative 12-week summer program, funded by the US Embassy Tashkent and implemented by American Councils, is designed to provide Uzbek students with opportunities in professional business and STEM fields. During the upcoming summer period, 75 finalists will gain practical work experience and a greater understanding of international business practices as they prepare to enter the competitive 21st-century workforce. YPIP participants represent and come from various different educational and professional backgrounds including business, STEM, tourism, English language, media, law. In addition to placing interns at numerous businesses and enterprises across Tashkent, YPIP also provides the interns with dedicated business mentors, ensuring a meaningful and positive internship experience. Through professional development events, interactions with industry leaders, and collaboration within their cohort, our interns will build a robust network of peers and professionals. The US Embassy and American Councils are incredibly proud of the new cohort of interns and excited to witness their professional journey this summer. 🌍 Today is World Environment Day! 🌱 This year's theme, "Our Land, Our Future," highlights global efforts to restore land, combat desertification, and ensure drought resilience. The C5+ O.N.E. (Opening Networks through English) program is proud to support professionals working in these fields by providing English language classes, professional development opportunities, and access to a network of peers across all five Central Asian countries. With 12 trained mentors, 378 students from 18 pilot schools completed the program, receiving certificates on May 25, 2024. Through entrepreneurial and soft skills training, YES empowers youth to become innovative contributors to their communities and the economy. Activities included guest lectures and field visits, enriching students' learning experiences. The Tashkent State University of Law (TSUL) has partnered with the University of Kansas School of Law to launch a groundbreaking "3+1" program! 🏛✨ Through this program, TSUL students can now complete their bachelor's degree in 3 years at TSUL and spend the final year earning a master's degree at the University of Kansas. After just 4 years, they'll hold both a bachelor's from TSUL and a master's in law from Kansas! 🎓📚 This amazing initiative began with the efforts of Faculty Enrichment Program alum Sardorbek Yusupov, who was hosted at the University of Kansas in 2021. 🌟 FEP is the program of U.S. Embassy in Tashkent and implemented by American Councils for International Education.

Today, May 31, 2024, marks the opening ceremony of the Young Professional Internships Program (YPIP). Remarkably, YPIP extends its opportunities beyond Tashkent, reaching students across various regions of Uzbekistan. Impressively, 70% of participants are from different regions of Uzbekistan, reflecting the program's commitment to inclusivity and regional development. In 2024, out of 1,170 applicants, only 75 outstanding finalists were selected. These individuals are smart, active, and goal-oriented, poised to become the next generation of leaders in their respective fields.
