*Actions Must Conform to the Shariah* Shaykh Abdullah Nasir Rehmani Hafizahullah said, It should be clear - some people who are deprived of the Shariah and Sunnah say, "We believe for an action to be accepted, it is only based on the desire to do good and good intentions are sufficient." This is poor thinking - which has no weight even as much as a flies wing. Was the desire of the Companion and his intention not good, who slaughtered his sacrificial animal before the Eid prayer? It is established from the books of Hadith this was due to his good intentions. He slaughtered his sacrificial animal before the prayer only to distribute the meat to the poor Companions as soon as possible. Can there be a better desire to do good than this? Let's observe the ruling of the Prophet Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam concerning this action. Allah's Messenger Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam said, "Your sheep is just sheep meat (and not a sacrifice)." The complete incident can be read in Sahih al-Bukhari (no. 5556) and Sahih Muslim (no. 1961). Hafiz Ibn Hajr quoted Abu Muhammad ibn Abi Jamrah’s commentary on this incident in his Fath ul-Bari (10/17), saying: `"There (is evidence in this hadith) that an action, no matter how good the intention is, it is still unacceptable unless it conforms to the Shariah."``` A similar incident is mentioned in Sunan ad-Darimi (Sharh Hadith Jibril (p. 40)

Shaykh Salim al-Hilali said Shaykh Abu Shihab ud-Din Hassan b. Imam Ahmad's son Abdullah said, I heard my father (Imam Ahmad) say, If the leader gives permission to the people and the call to arms comes to them - then there is nothing wrong with them going out (for J). I said to my father, What if they go out (for J) without the leaders permission? Shaykh ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said, "The Sunnah for the traveller is to shorten the prayer - i. e. praying a four rak'ah prayer as two rak'ahs. This is what Allah's Messenger Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam - did in all his travels, and so did his companions. He never prayed four rak'ahs while travelling. As for what was narrated that he - or Ai'shah - prayed four rak'ahs while travelling during his lifetime is a batil hadith according to the Imams of Hadith.
