■ PROBLEMS OF COAL MINING IN INDIA #Economicgeography #Energyresources ◇ The distribution of coal is uneven. The major coal producing areas are confined to eastern india. This involve high transport cost to carry a heavy commodity like coal over long distance. ◇ Indian coal has high ash content and low caloric value. ◇ A large percentage of coal is taken out from underground mines where productivity of labour and machinery is very low.
