The EPA linked their herbicide Roundup to cancer in 1984. Monsanto knew. They spent the next 30 years paying scientists to say otherwise. Buying studies. Hiding data. Capturing regulators.
In India — 134,799 farmers died by suicide in a single year. Most of them drank the pesticide that had bankrupted them. The same chemical. The one that was supposed to save them.
170,000 people have now sued Bayer — the German company that bought Monsanto in 2018, changed the name, and kept selling the poison. Bayer has paid nearly $11 billion in settlements. This week they are at the US Supreme Court arguing they should not have to put a cancer warning on the label. The Trump administration filed a brief supporting them.
Four companies now control 60% of the world's seeds.
And this same system — the GMO seeds, the chemical dependency, the debt trap — is being pushed into African agriculture through AGRA and the Gates Foundation. The same model. The same trap. New packaging.
