✒ *Anna University to issue degree certificates before convocation.* 👇 🎓 For the first time, Anna University has decided to issue degree certificates to more than 100 students who have passed out in 2021 before the convocation to help them to get admissions in foreign universities and to join companies in gulf-countries. 🎓 The university usually conducts the convocation during December or January and awards degrees to around one lakh engineering graduates in the state. 🎓 This year the convocation is delayed due to the pandemic and also the governor's office is giving priority to the universities that have a long delay in conducting the convocation. 🎓 Anna University conducted its previous convocation in March 2021. 🎓 Though the university has issued a provisional certificate, students who aspire to study in US, Canada, UK universities are struggling to get admissions. 🎓 Those who have got employment in foreign companies also need degree certificates for joining them. 🎓 More than 100 students have applied to the university seeking their degree certificates on an emergency basis citing admission to foreign universities and jobs. 🎓 Anna University vice-chancellor R Velraj said the university has got the approval from the governor to give degree certificates for more than 100 students before the convocation. "We are in the process of issuing degree certificates for those who have applied," he said. 🎓 Some colleges also give bonafide certificates to enable students to join foreing universities. 🎓 "We are issuing bonafide certificates to students stating that they have completed their degrees in the college and saying that the degree certificates were delayed due to the pandemic," said B Chidambararajan, principal of SRM Valliammai Engineering College. 🎓 R Sureshkumar, managing director, Truematics - Overseas Education Consultancy, Chennai, said some UK universities did not accept provisional certificates during the admissions. 🎓 "During the January 2022 intake, foreign universities asked students to produce original degree certificates as several months passed after they graduated from the college. 🎓 Students got admission based on bonafide letters from their respective colleges," he said.
