"They're trying to create censorship structures. They're giving us reasons why democracy can't survive unless we censor material.
…There are people who would like to control the institutions in a way that they used to back in the 20th century.”
Martin Gurri is a former CIA media analyst and author of “The Revolt of the Public and the Crisis of Authority in the New Millennium.”
In this episode, we dive into the radical transformation of the media and information ecosystem.

"What is post-journalism? It's an entirely new business model…You are now a temple of ideology for a specific set of people.
…In 2016, the NYTimes had less than 1 million digital subscribers & was struggling. Trump comes.
…Today, the NYTimes has 10 million digital subscribers,” says Martin Gurri, a writer, former CIA media analyst, and author of “The Revolt of the Public and the Crisis of Authority in the New Millennium.”
“Post-journalism essentially is the idea that journalism commodifies polarization,” Gurri says.

"Sadly, the scientific industry has been so corrupted by money sources that even the people that you'd like to think would defend, for example, the scientific journals have thrown up their hands and said much or most of the science printed in the journals that your doctor relies on today is not to be believed, because it's been so corrupted.
And I was stunned, because I'm one of those people that used to think you read something and it's in a peer-reviewed, published journal - everybody always says that's the gold standard. That's it.
Come to find out, Dr. Marcia Angell, former head of the New England Journal of Medicine, said that it's problematic that she learned, as editor-in-chief, she could not stop the bad studies with the bad information in them that were hopelessly tainted by the pharmaceutical industry. She said she lost that battle.” - Sharyl Attkisson

"Any place that the [Chinese] Communist Party wants to assert a claim to it will do so. I'm sure we're on the cusp of hearing about claims to most of Antarctica, and when they get to the moon, we'll hear about claims to the moon."
- Richard Fisher, a senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center

"What's going on right now in the South China Sea against the Philippines, where we have these extremely belligerent, provocative acts, some of which constitute acts of war against the Philippines…[The] State Department has issued 12 warnings that we are prepared to defend the Philippines because of our mutual defense treaty with Manila. President Biden himself has issued three oral warnings…The Chinese have just blown by those.
…Xi Jinping has made the decision to risk war. And he's made the decision to risk war with a treaty ally of the US." - China expert Gordon Chang

"I personally believe that that's how outbreaks should [be handled]—with the exception of extraordinary circumstances…You provide education. You provide resources. You provide medication, provide preventive therapies if those are available. And then you let people make the decisions—again, with rare exceptions."
In this episode, Florida surgeon general Dr. Joseph Ladapo explains his approach to infectious diseases and the rationale behind Florida’s recent guidance on COVID-19 boosters and measles, which run counter to CDC recommendations.

"We are reminding Floridians and people around the country, and really around the world, that these are not products that we recommend."
Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo explains Florida’s recent guidance on the COVID-19 boosters.

"In medicine, we have all these silos. We have 82 specialties. You finish medical school and they're like, 'Which specialty are you going to pick? You have to pick one.'
And this is our currency of academics: If you have this tiny little focus, you just only work on the choroid of the eye, which is one little part of the eye, this guy is a genius! He's celebrated. And that's how we advance our science in our minds.
Now, we need sub-specialists. I'm one of them. But everything is connected. Mitochondrial health [and] general body inflammation affects every cell in the body. Every cell in the body practically has estrogen receptors. There's a hormonal connection. There's a general way in which every cell in the body needs certain micronutrients, which are not found in the modern food supply." - Dr. Marty Makary

"The problem with conflating public interest with public use is that government players are very bad at predicting what a good industry is going to be or what a good business is going to be." James Burling

"A [housing] subsidy is generally a terrible idea in the short term (and especially in the long term)...because all it does is shovel more money into a sector of the economy without necessarily increasing supply." - James Burling, author of “Nowhere to Live”

"[Karl] Marx was the original limousine Marxist...There's no evidence that he rubbed elbows with the proletariat - that he was on the factory floor. He spent all his life either with activists or at the London library doing research or badgering [Friedrich] Engels for money, or his parents for money, or cheating on his wife. Katie Gorka talks a lot about what a bad life he led.
But what ended up happening - and we saw it in history, he saw the working man turned out to have no interest in all the things of the manifesto and other Marxist writings, especially the dissolution of the family, the dissolution of God, of the nation state, and private property. The worker liked his wife and children. And the worker at that time…liked what little property he had. He wanted to have more of it. He wanted to become middle class. The worker was very patriotic, and the worker worshiped God." - Mike Gonzalez

“We have these extremely belligerent, provocative acts, some of which constitute acts of war against the Philippines…We see this right now at Sabina Shoal. Last month, it was Second Thomas Shoal. Before that, it was Whitsun Reef.”
America has a mutual defense treaty with the Philippines, and the State Department has issued a dozen warnings to China—to no effect.
“We see momentum toward war, and we Americans have got to ask ourselves, what is going to stop this momentum to war?”
Gordon Chang, author of “Plan Red: China’s Project to Destroy America”

“We're seeing a change in composition of Chinese migrants. So if we go back two or three years ago, it's basically family groups. Now you're seeing packs of single males, groups of five to fifteen, military age, traveling without family members, some of them pretending not to speak English. And as Chairman [Mark] Geen noted, U.S. Border Patrol knows some of them have links to the Chinese military.”
Gordon Chang is the author of the new book, “Plan Red: China’s Project to Destroy America.”

"The academic community and the media community have been corrupted, effectively, by the Chinese Communist regime.
Academics have learned to respect what I call the 'four taboos' (and journalists too): Don't write about Chinese human rights violations, don't write about their military buildup, don't write about their espionage, and don't write about their covert political influence operations, many of which also are overt.
And so, if you don't write about those things, then you'll get a visa to China, and you can go to the country of your expertise, and your New York Times Bureau won't be shut down, and you won't be expelled." - John Lenczowski

The Chinese regime uses a skillful combination of carrots and sticks to influence—and even manipulate—media reporting in America, Canada, and around the world:
The carrots:
1. Paid junkets and trips to China. Can't persuade the China beat reporter to go because he knows the deal? Target the non-China specialists. The travel writer. The tech writer. The culture writer. Target the media executives.
2. Ad buys and full-page paid inserts
The sticks:
1. Visa restrictions on foreign journalists
2. Cut off business. Block an outlet's website in China.
3. Physical threats, cyberattacks, cyberbullying
4. Control sources and translators in China - If the CCP can't control journalists, they can certainly make any sources they talk to face dire consequences.
China researcher Sarah Cook has been investigating the Chinese regime’s media influence operations for years.

The 'American way' is about working together to improve the situation and solve our problems, say Katie Gorka & Mike Gonzalez.
Marxists are so fundamentally opposed to other opinions that those opinions must be destroyed.
