Why it cannot treat pneumonia ❌
Daptomycin is inactivated by pulmonary surfactant present in the lungs.
Because of this inactivation, the drug loses its antibacterial activity in lung tissue, so it cannot treat pneumonia.
How it can cause pneumonia ⚠️
A known adverse effect of Daptomycin is Eosinophilic Pneumonia.
This is an inflammatory lung condition where eosinophils accumulate in lung tissue, leading to breathing problems.
