An Introduction to Mankhas, the Extinct Sanatana Artists: Or How Nehruvian India Squandered the Hindu Cultural Suzerainty Mankhas or Picture Showmen were practitioners of narrative pictorial storytelling. From very ancient times, it evolved into a separate art form and captured the imagination of countless generations and lasted up to even recent times. ---   Mankhas were professionals. and that their profession was indeed Sanatana—timeless. They were also known by other names: Gauriputraka, Kēdāraka, Yamapaṭaka, aṇḍ Pratimādharin. For countless centuries, Mankhas were a ubiquitous presence not just in India but abroad as well. What began as a practice and profession of exhibiting scroll-pictures and paintings depicting different Puranic themes eventually became an invaluable cultural treasure. Travelers from various countries were so awestruck and inspired by it that they spun off variations to suit their own cultures. The Bhaandification of Bollywood In recent times, Bollywood has emerged as one of the most divisive forces hurting India. His status was slightly higher than that of a pauper happily feeding off British crumbs. But the pauperised status did not deter the deluded Bahadur Shah Zafar from basking in the illusion that his Mughal House still commanded the same prestige as before. When Lala Lajpat Rai Bombed Mohandas Gandhi’s Politics of Ahimsa   Excerpts from a 1916 essay written by Lala Lajpat Rai blasting Mohandas Gandhi's new doctrine of non-violent resistance against evil. -- Lala Lajpat Rai was among the first to openly call out the inherent and long-term dangers of Gandhi using non-violence as a form of protest against an intrinsically tyrannical foreign power premised on ruthlessness and exploitation. The result was an essay published in a Calcutta-based magazine in July 1916 in which he thoroughly blasts Gandhi's Ahimsa.   Here are some nuggets from it.   Suppose a ruffian assaults our daughter. Mr. Gandhi says that according to his conception of Ahimsa, the only way to protect the honor of our daughter is to stand between her and her assailant. With great respect for Mr. Gandhi, this is meaningless.   I consider it my duty to raise an emphatic protest against the pernicious doctrine he has propounded. Even a Gandhi should not be allowed to poison the minds of Young India on this subject. No one should be at liberty to pollute the fountains of national vitality.
