Portraits of the Deracinated Indian Education System Here is a random selection of warnings issued over a century on the long-term cultural damage inflicted by English education. -- This is not education, it is spiritual emasculation. The conduct of our intellectual elite avoiding leadership, but desperately eager to serve in the family court of Smt Sonia Gandhi, is testimony to this. Just go to 10 Janpath where Smt Sonai Gandhi holds court, and you will see a glut of convent school and Doon School products. 📑💪🛕🙏🪔 https://thedharmadispatch.substack.com/p/portraits-of-the-deracinated-indian

A Glimpse into the Indian American Community in the Early 20th Century: A Tale Optimism, Sincerity and Disquiet   The first part of a series offering a peek into the conditions of the Indian American community in the early 20th Century. ---   This is an extremely valuable piece of recent history. It tell us first hand, the character and ideals and lifestyles of Indians who migrated to America back then.   IN 1911, SARANGADHAR DAS, an academic at UC Berkeley wrote a 11-page essay titled, Why Must We Emigrate to the United States of America?   This is what he writes in that essay: "We will never tolerate the Anglo-Indians and their Indian sycophants to control the strings of our purse." -- Read the whole brilliant piece! 📑💪🛕🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/history/a-glimpse-into-the-indian-american-community-in-the-early-20th-century-a-tale-optimism-sincerity-and-disquiet

Our school textbooks still don’t mention the role of the Communists in sabotaging the Indian freedom struggle and their open, candid support for the creation of Pakistan. The same holds true for the fact that our textbooks do not mention how the Indian Communist parties welcomed and celebrated China’s invasion of Tibet and its war against India in 1962. -- Read the whole powerful essay! 📑🪔📖📑 https://thedharmadispatch.substack.com/p/why-is-the-complete-history-of-the

[PHOTOESSAY] An Eyewitness Describes the Profound Learning Atmosphere of the Kangri Gurukula Academy in 1913   Founded in 1901-2, the Kangri Gurukula Academy near Hardwar, was inspired by the Gurukula ideal. It was originally the brainchild of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, which was concretised by Lala Munshi Ram. --- Swami Dayanand Saraswati came to the irresistible conclusion that a defective system of education was chiefly responsible for our social degradation. The saint argued that for our future well-being and for the creation of a class of physically, morally and spiritually strong citizens, the revival of the Gurukula system of education was urgently needed.    Some of his admirers with Lala Munshi Ram at the head, established in 1901, a Gurukula near Kangri.    The students live in the company of their Gurus for a period of over 16 years, when it is easier for the teachers to teach morality both by precept and example to the Brahmacharis. A band of self-sacrificing, zealous teachers is capable of achieving more than a cartload of text-books on the subject.    Above all, look at the pictures of this Gurukula shot in 1913. Compare the degradation that has occurred in our educational system today. 📑🕉🙏🛕🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/culture/photoessay-an-eyewitness-describes-the-profound-learning-atmosphere-of-the-kangri-gurukula-academy-in-1913

Travelling with Tantu: Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa’s Contemporary Epic   The first episode of a multipart analysis of Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa's 1993 epic novel, "Tantu" in Kannada. --- Tantu (Strand or Thread) easily earns the high distinction of being a modern epic. Few novelists have explored the history of India from Independence to the Emergency with such precision, brilliance and insight as Dr. Bhyrappa. No hidden nook or crevice of our national body and soul escapes its piercing searchlight.    Above all, it is the story of the Hindu civilisation which had the misfortune of getting entrapped in the body politic of Indian democracy. -- Read the full piece! 📑🛕🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/culture/travelling-with-tantu-dr-sl-bhyrappas-contemporary-epic

Rank materialism was the only yardstick that the British colonialists had used to assess India’s civilization. They had institutionalized deception, trickery and treachery in commercial transactions. Simply SPB: In Fond Remembrance   S.P. BALASUBRAMANIAM WOULD HAVE TURNED 77 yesterday if was still with us. His voice has stilled but his music will outlive the voice.    This is my tribute to him. ---   In the realm of cinema music or playback singing, SPB is akin to air. He is… everywhere.  It is not an exaggeration to claim that there are at least ten SPB songs being played at a given moment throughout the world in multiple languages and genres. For half a century, SPB strode the world of cinema music like a giant. His voracious musical appetite digested and owned languages and forms and delivered the same melodic quality with the unerring consistency of majestic rivers that know exactly which sea they need to merge into.  This is something no playback singer before him had done and none will do in the future given that there’s nothing called “music” anymore in Indian filmdom. -- Do read the full piece! 🪔🛕🙏🎵🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/commentary/simply-spb-in-fond-remembrance

Jamba Lakidi Pamba: An Underrated Classic that Foretold the Woke Epidemic   An in-depth analysis of the 1992 Telugu blockbuster, Jamba Lakidi Pamba, which tangentially predicted the Woke phenomenon. -- THE PRE-CLIMAX SCENE of the Telugu superhit movie, Jamba Lakidi Pamba was an eerie prediction of a sinister reality that is exploding out of control in the United States. In the scene, a Swami foretells how society will hurtle into utter degeneration and collapse in five phases:    1. Women will become men and vice versa 2. Children will behave like adults and vice versa 3. Dressing, language and speech will become bestial, demonic and unintelligible  4. Everyone will go crazy to the extent that craziness becomes the new normal 5. Bodily organs will undergo bizarre transformations: female body parts will appear on male bodies and vice versa.  Thirty-one years after Jamba Lakidi Pamba was released, almost all these phases have become part of what we mistakenly call “reality.” These five phases constitute the combined definition of the degenerate Woke phenomenon. It’s also the most accurate definition.     Back then, the audience laughed uproariously. Little did this audience imagine that this fantasy could ever come alive and consume its own children and grandchildren who are slowly being sucked into the Woke vortex. In urban India.     -- Read the whole compelling piece! 📑💪🪔 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/commentary/jamba-lakidi-pamba-an-underrated-classic-that-foretold-the-woke-epidemic

How the Navanītakaṁ Supplied the Raw Material to Western Medicinal Research in Garlic   The correct name of the so-called Bower Manuscript is Navanītakaṁ.   THE SPECIAL FEATURE OF Navanītakaṁ is its elaborate treatise on Lasuna or garlic. In fact, Navanītakaṁ opens with a chapter titled Lasunakalpa, meaning, “pharmacology of garlic.”   Spread over forty-three verses, it is a magnificent and masterly exposition of garlic as both an item of diet and medicine. The exposition is also a marvelous piece of storytelling which traces the origin of garlic to the Puranic episode of Amrita-Manthana.    Did you know that after Navanītakaṁ was discovered, the Western medical community appropriated its treatise on garlic?   Read the whole episode! 📑🕉🪔🧄🧄 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/history/how-the-navan%C4%ABtaka%E1%B9%81-supplied-the-raw-material-to-western-medicinal-research-in-garlic

When the Bower Manuscript Opened the Doors to an Extensive Hindu Civilisational Imprint in China   Did you know that ancient Chinese Kings had beautiful Sanskrit names such as Suvarna-deva and Suvarna-Pushpa?   Did you know that meditation cells in Chinese caves were  known by their original Sanskrit name: Kuti.   Did you also know that the Kizil Library in China had some of the “the oldest copies of the Indian theatre known today" written in Sanskrit. Scripts of full-length Sanskrit plays were discovered, and they were explicitly titled, Nataka.   These and several other hidden details about Bharatavarsha's sweeping and deep cultural imprint on China's civilisation, culture and society were revealed after the discovery of the Bower Manuscript.   If we had actually played to our strengths, our foreign policy doctrine would have been perpetually reminding China of the incalculable debt it owes to the Santana civilisation.  -- Read Episode 3 of our ongoing, exciting series! 💪📑🪔🕉🛕 https://www.dharmadispatch.in/history/when-the-bower-manuscript-opened-the-doors-to-an-extensive-hindu-civilisational-imprint-in-china

A Turkic Muslim Treasure-Hunter Sells an Ancient Sanskrit Manuscript to a Colonial British Colonel in China  -- At Kucha, now in Xinjiang, Colonel Hamilton Bower buys an ancient Sanskrit Manuscript from a Turkic Muslim treasure-hunter for a cheap sum and then brings it back to India.   He then takes the manuscript to Shimla and hands it over to J. Waterhouse, the then president of the Asiatic Society of Bengal. The manuscript was named eponymously: The Bower Manuscript. Indeed, the nomenclature was characteristic of the colonial attitudes towards India.   But its real name not only reveals its antiquity but is yet another proof of the extent and influence of the Sanatana civilisation in Brihad-BharataNavanītakaṁ. -- Episode 2 of our exciting series on this little-known event of recent Indian history. My Cover Story in the OPEN Magazine — The 2023 Karnataka election has practically demonstrated that it has become a quasi-Muslim party and a thoroughly anti-Hindu party—two sides of the same coin. Its desperation for power will propel it to adopt any extreme measure. These measures might as well herald a future “Karnataka Story”. A ubiquitous sight that greeted the people of Karnataka was the frenzied eruptions of celebration by the Muslim community over Congress’ victory. In comparison, there were fewer displays of the Congress party’s flags on the ground. https://openthemagazine.com/cover-story/karnataka-a-preface-to-the-future/
