Lord Narasimha, after killing Hiranyakashypu, wandered in this mountain jungle in an angry mood. She took the form of Chenchita or Chenchu Lakshmi, a tribal girl who lived in the same forest as the daughter of the tribal chief Saurasena. Narasimha saw the tribal girl Chenchu Lakshmi and admired her. Her beauty pacified the anger of the God and he fell in love with her.
