[Decode Financial Reports in 7 Minutes] Hey Tribe, When I started investing, it is so confusing how to get started! Companies will be reporting earnings again and whenever they issue a report, it will useful for investors to read them.. but How? Here's a guide to read them in 7 minutes! Minute 1: Start with the Big Picture Begin with the Chairman’s or CEO’s Statement. Focus on: The first and last two paragraphs to understand the company’s recent performance and future outlook. Look for mentions of strategic growth, challenges faced, and upcoming priorities. What to Spot: Positive Sign: Clear and optimistic plans for the future. Red Flag: Overly vague or pessimistic language. Minute 2: Check the Income Statement This is where you’ll assess profitability. Look for: Net Profit: Is it rising or falling compared to the previous year? Revenue (Sales): Is it increasing or stagnant? Margins: Review gross and operating margins for efficiency. What to Spot: Positive Sign: Consistent revenue growth and improving margins. Red Flag: Declining profits or dependency on one-off gains. Minute 3: Analyze the Balance Sheet The balance sheet reveals the company’s financial position. Focus on: Debt Levels: Is debt manageable relative to equity? Cash Holdings: Is the company holding enough cash to cover short-term obligations? Working Capital: Compare current assets to current liabilities. What to Spot: Positive Sign: Low debt, strong cash reserves, and positive working capital. Red Flag: High short-term debt or negative working capital. Minute 4: Examine the Cash Flow Statement Cash flow is the lifeblood of any business. Key items to review: Operating Cash Flow: Is it positive, and does it align with net profit? Cash Cycle: Are receivables or inventory growing faster than sales? What to Spot: Positive Sign: Positive and growing operating cash flow. Red Flag: Negative operating cash flow without a clear explanation. Minute 5: Look at Segmental Details Most companies operate in multiple segments. Check the notes to the financial statements for: Segmental Revenue and Profitability: Are key segments growing? Geographic Performance: Is growth aligned with regional economic conditions? What to Spot: Positive Sign: Growth across core segments. Red Flag: Significant declines in key segments or geographic areas. Minute 6: Review Dividend Trends Dividends reveal how much of the profit is being shared with shareholders. Look for: Dividend Payout Ratio: Is it steady or increasing? Alignment with Growth: Does the company balance reinvestment and shareholder rewards? What to Spot: Positive Sign: Steady or rising dividends with clear policies. Red Flag: Dividend cuts without explanation. Minute 7: Verify Audit Results Finally, check the auditor’s opinion for any concerns: Clean Opinion: Look for unqualified (clean) audit results. [1st 0 DTE Trades of 2025 ~ ] +USD$2445.73 Hey Tribe Wanted to close the loop especially if you joined last night. My positions all expired worthless last night even though the price hit my goal post at 2:55am but the position did not exited. I went to check back at the data using 5830 strike and 0 DTE today as a proxy, when it hit goal post at 2:55am, the position is in profits even if it hits goal post. This is largely time decay and high volatility. I understand this maybe advanced for those who are new to investing, so next Tuesday, i will be starting our Tribe Training on Investing Foundations into Stocks and Options. 3. Trade OFTEN! This is counter to my previous value based, buy and hold strategy. Trading very often is beneficial for 2 reasons Reason 1: Law of Large Numbers If we have a strategy that wins 80% of the time, and have positive expected payoff, we need to trade often and as much as possible for the law of large numbers to take place. Imagine you are a casino, and all your games are in your favour, would you prefer only 1 or 2 customer entering your casino, or would you want as many customers as possible? Which gives you more profits? Which is riskier. I will argue having lesser customers is risky. Imagine having 1 customer that day coming to play the roulette, placing the biggest bet he can on black/red and only placing 1 Bet. Even though i have a 52.6% of winning, the chance of him winning is still 47.4. i.e, almost half the time, he may win. As a casino, I will be very stressed over that 1 bet and may end up losing that night. BUT, if I see thousands of customers entering my casino, I wont be bothered even if 3 or 4 of them wins the million dollar jackpot. Because the law of large numbers are in my favour. Reason 2: Live Data 2nd reason to trade often is to get live data so i can verify that the strategy is indeed working. As I invest more, I see my main job as finding more Alpha Quant Strategies rather than winning trades. Similar to running a casino, (I really dont like gambling, but i thought casino is one of the easiest to explain), my job is not to win every trade but to create more games that is in my favour and then allocate table sizing to each and see which games to offer more. Overall, 2024 is a year of Alpha Quant. Alpha means the "edge" that beats the market Quant means Quantitative I hope this sharing helps - Do refer to our previous post where I shared the youtube recording and resources on these strategies. 1. Quant I used to be a 100% value based investor, but quantitative research had given me such a huge boost that I cannot ignore it. - Only invest/ trade on strategies with Backtested Results that shows Positive Expected Payoff. Essentially, I am the "House" (Casino), not the gambler when I only participate in games which data shows that i will have high probability of winning. 2. Sizing is Everything. I have seen, in a group of investors investing in similar strategies and assets, we can have very different results. The key is sizing! Position Sizing not only can help us win optimally, it can help us lose logically. If you study into Kelly Criterion, it will also be a lot easier on your mind to see losses as the entire part of the winning formula.

[3 Lessons for 2024 +121.01%] Hey Tribe, Today is the last day of 2024, and it is a good time to review our performance as our own fund manager. My entire portfolio went up by 121.01% (which is not my typical result, typically, I am happy with 20% to 30%). 3 Things made the difference this year which I reflected on... (NOT financial advice)

[Market This Week - 30 Dec] Hey Tribe, Last Friday, the market dipped without any specific trigger, despite overall positive economic data: GDP: Q3 2024 grew 3.1%, driven by consumer spending, exports, and federal investments. Unemployment: Stable at 4.2% as of November 2024. Inflation: Slight uptick to 2.7% in November, still below the historical average. Interest Rates: FED reduced rates to 4.25%-4.50%, projecting 3.9% by late 2025. Consumer Spending: Increased 3.7% annually from July to September, boosting GDP growth.
