👉 *IMPORTANT 175* 👈 *Signs of Graves’ disease:* 1 Eye disease: exophthalmos, ophthalmoplegia. 2 Pretibial myxoedema: oedematous swellings above lateral malleoli. 3 Thyroid acropachy: extreme manifestation, with clubbing, painful finger and toe swelling, and periosteal reaction in limb bones. 👉 IMPORTANT 174 👈 Please never miss to screen for thyroid abnormality in the following : Patients with atrial fibrillation. Patients with hyperlipidaemia (4–14% have hypothyroidism). Diabetes mellitus—on annual review. Women with type 1 DM during 1st trimester and post delivery (3-fold rise in icidence of postpartum thyroid dysfunction) Patients on amiodarone or lithium (6 monthly). Patients with Down’s or Turner’s syndrome, or Addison’s disease (yearly) Pt with worsening of heart failure [hyper/hypothyroidism] Pt with CNS symptoms like chorea / dementia / CTS Pt with chronic fatigue Pt with chronic diarrhea [routine work up for IBS] Pt with Osteoporosis [esp if early] Good luck.
