However, punishment can also have its own advantage, especially when there is a rush for the result. It is no secret that fear is the source of action; when a person is scared, they are more likely to act in order to avoid punishment. So, using this psychological tool, it can be quite easy to incentivize students for studies. No wonder virtually all educators used this method to push their students to buckle down to their studies back in the day. Coming to my perspective, I am confident that flexibility is the key. Mentors ought to come forefront in this matter. As a teacher or parent, this person has to feel what the student needs at a particular time. Based on intuition, they can choose a specific way. Nevertheless, they have to be careful not to overshoot; too much reward can spoil, while too much punishment can break the student. Therefore, it is essential to adjust the method in accordance with the situation.
