Unfortunately, tonight's session of The Gearbox was cut short by a network issue on my end. Still, I think we got exactly what we came for. We asked a simple question: When does a trader become a trader? And the answers were fascinating. One perspective was that a trader becomes a trader when they stop merely learning about the markets and understand them well enough to genuinely want to do this. Another was that a trader is someone who has come to know themselves around the markets. Another was that a trader is simply the person who has money in an account and keeps showing up, through wins and losses alike. As the conversation unfolded, another thought came to me. Perhaps, from a professional standpoint, a trader is someone for whom trading has become a vocation; a major or primary source of income. I don't think there is one right answer to the question. And maybe that's the point. The purpose of The Gearbox isn't to settle every question. It's to explore them together.
