ምን እንስማ | By Antenhe Deribe | Full Sermon

Matthew 17:5 recounts a significant event known as the Transfiguration, where Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a high mountain. While they were there, Jesus was transfigured before them, and His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became dazzling white. Additionally, Moses and Elijah appeared, conversing with Jesus. The call to listen to Jesus goes beyond mere passive hearing. It involves attentiveness, obedience, and a willingness to align our lives with His teachings. Jesus, as the Son of God, brings the message of salvation, love, grace, and truth to humanity. His words have the power to transform lives, bring healing, and lead us into a deep and intimate relationship with God. To listen to Jesus means prioritizing His teachings and making them the foundation of our lives. It requires humility, a receptive heart, and a desire to follow His guidance. Listening to Jesus involves studying His Word, prayerfully seeking His will, and allowing His teachings to shape our thoughts, attitudes, and actions.

In John 9:4, Jesus declares, "We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work." This statement emphasizes the urgency and purpose in fulfilling God's mission. Jesus understood that His time on earth was limited, and He was determined to carry out the work assigned to Him by the Father. Similarly, as followers of Christ, we are called to actively engage in the work of God's kingdom, seizing the opportunities presented to us in the present moment. In John 5:17 He explains that God, His Father, is continually at work, and as the Son, He too is engaged in the Father's work. This verse highlights the ongoing nature of God's activity in the world and reinforces the notion that there is no time when God's work ceases. The "now" mentality challenges us to avoid complacency, procrastination, or waiting for the "right time." It reminds us that God's work doesn't pause, and each day presents opportunities for us to make a difference. Whether it's sharing the Gospel, loving others, or serving those in need, we are called to be diligent and intentional in our obedience to God's calling.
