Ten Hag: "I was really happy with his [Rashford] goal, 3-0, against Bournemouth, so he stayed in the game, he scored in the game. Still, he was focused, and in the right moment, in the right spot, he was there to make his goal in that game."

Ten Hag: "With [Jack] Butland coming in, I have to see his performance in training. But the Carabao Cup is coming quick and then we will make a choice [to play Heaton or Butland."

Ten Hag: "You have to get into a position where you can win something and I know the season is long, especially with such a lot of games ahead. So don't get distracted because, when you think too far ahead, you get distracted, so focus on the team's progress."

Ten Hag: "It [winning trophies] has to do, of course, with a player's capabilities and often with their mentality. We have some players in this team who have that experience of winning, and that can help us."

Ten Hag: "To win a trophy is something great. It will give you experience and help you to win more titles and more trophies – maybe also bigger trophies, that is definitely true."

Ten Hag: "We have a lot of opportunities to win a trophy. We are still in many competitions."

Ten Hag: "Football players aren’t robots. No one is the same. I think for everyone, you need an individual approach. We thought that, in cooperation with Jadon [Sancho], it was the best choice."

Ten Hag: "I think many top athletes, in football and also in other sports, sometimes it's good to go away from the place where you are at daily to get a new vibe and a new experience. People have a different approach, and this can give you the right push to get back on track."

Ten Hag: "I think he [Sancho] is now making good progress on the physical part and that will help him. I hope he can return quickly, but I can't say a duration of how long."

Ten Hag: "In this moment he [Sancho] is not fit enough, no. I said, physical. But physical is also the connection with mental."

Ten Hag: "We have some hurdles to take but I think he's [Sancho] in a good direction. And what I say I can't force this process and so I don't do [it]. But I would be really happy when he returns to the squad for team training, so that will be the next step."

Ten Hag: "Jadon [Sancho] is one – when he is fit – he will contribute, and then we have an extra option, and so we will have more chance of winning a lot of games."

Ten Hag: "I would like to have Jadon [Sancho] back as soon as possible. But also in this, I can't force this process and so I will do everything that's in my power but some processes you can't force and this is one of them."

Ten Hag on Donny van de Beek's injury: "Not yet [known how serious it is]. We are still doing investigations. Once we have it, once we finalise this process, we will bring an update." [MU]

Ten Hag: “We have so many games to cover. Sometimes we will rotate but also have a look at the opponents we will face. Tactical-wise, we can pick teams but we definitely also look to the physical and mental load for the players in the squad and the games we have to face.” [MU]

Ten Hag: “He can play 90 minutes but [if we’re playing him] in a row of games we have to protect him so he can have the strength, the power to deliver over 90 minutes, every third day.” [MU]

Ten Hag on Anthony Martial: “He’s available [vs Everton] but it’s different. He came off [vs Bournemouth] but he didn’t play that much in the first half of the season so we have to bring him slowly back into 90 minutes.” [MU]

Ten Hag on transfers: "When there are opportunities at the top you have to be ready for that. My main focus is to improve the team."

Ten Hag on potentially being in the title race and winning trophies: "We have to go from game to game. In this stage of the season, it's not where you're looking at. It's about getting into the position where you can then win something. Don't get distracted."

Ten Hag on Marcus Rashford: "If he develops that skill [keeping focused], he will score more goals and contribute to a successful season."
