Empty Echo It was a simple dare from a boy "So, will you swim the river?" I was young and didn't care Going to show I wasn't scared I was going to deliver How rivers turn into seas How this all became a part of me How this all became bigger than me Much bigger than me I swam so long, I couldn't see back And I couldn't stop shivering But I swam the river, til my faraway friends Were just a sliver, far off I swam til the water was a mirror Reflecting all I was Until I was free of everything I listened to my own breath As I felt the cold rush Of the waves wash over me Until I was empty.
