Alongside the festival, the first phase of a climbing path built around Damota Mountain was completed and inaugurated. This climbing path, expected to have a total of 7,187 steps, had over 1,000 steps built and completed in its first phase.

This year, visually impaired students who took the 12th-grade exam and achieved university entrance scores have submitted a complaint through Tikvah Ethiopia, stating that they could not find out their university placements after filling out the placement forms.
What did the students say in their statements to us?
One student said, "This year, I took the 12th-grade exam and scored 288, which is above the passing score of 250 for visually impaired students. Visually impaired students are tested on 5 subjects out of 500, so the passing score is 250 and above.
However, we couldn't find out our university placements. When we try to check, the system says 'Replacement view currently closed' and doesn't work. This system issue only affects those of us who scored between 250 and 299.
Both non-visually impaired students and visually impaired students who scored above 300 were able to open the link and find out their university placements. We couldn't see ours; we don't know which university we are supposed to attend; we are confused."
Another examinee said, "I am a 12th-grade examinee from this year. I scored 298 out of 500, which is a passing score. However, the system did not process us, including other visually impaired students who achieved passing scores, to find out our university placements.
We were given a deadline from August 28, 2018 E.C. to the end of Pagume to fill out university placements; the system showed us that we could select universities, and we did. Later, a 5-day deadline was added to complete the placement; when we opened the link to see why it was added, the system showed that we had not submitted what we had sent by clicking 'Summit.'
However, the system processed visually impaired students who scored above 300. We are expected to achieve a passing score of 250 and above, which we did; but we haven't seen our placements."
Another female examinee stated, "I am a visually impaired student; I filled out the university placement form, but I haven't been assigned. My score is sufficient to pass. There are universities calling students, so we are confused about whether to wait or not."
Two other students also expressed similar complaints to Tikvah Ethiopia, and the students requested the Ministry of Education to provide an urgent solution.
What did the Ministry of Education respond?
Tikvah Ethiopia asked State Minister of Education Kindeya Gebrehiwot (Prof.) for a response to the students' complaints, and he provided one.
He responded, "We urge students with complaints regarding the placement to submit their grievances, along with the necessary information and evidence, exclusively through the dedicated online system within 5 days from the date this placement was announced."
To the relevant bodies, he said, "I told them to check, and it has been checked. Data comes to us from the Examinations Agency. If they did not select 'Blind' in their admission, they might be viewed as non-visually impaired.
Sometimes, even if they are visually impaired, they might submit it as non-visually impaired. When that happens, they get filtered out. There are visually impaired students who have been assigned. But for those who have individually inquired, there is a complaint submission system; there, they should enter 'I am visually impaired but not assigned.' Their complaints will be addressed."
