#Update Recently, KP Police reported an encounter in which four alleged militants were killed, releasing images of their bodies, weapons, tactical equipment and an Afghan identity card allegedly belonging to one of those killed. There is one serious problem. The ID card released by KP Police was altered. The admins of Insurgent Zone located the original, uncensored image. Comparing the two versions clearly shows manipulated sections, including obvious inconsistencies in the fonts and formatting. So we have a simple question for KP Police. Why was it altered? If this was genuinely the ID card recovered from an Afghan militant, why alter it before releasing it? If it was not, why publish an altered document in a way that created that impression? And now that the alteration has been established, will anyone be held accountable? These questions are not an attack on the police's fight against militancy. They are questions about the integrity of evidence presented by a state institution. When an institution presents something as evidence, the public has every right to examine it and question it. An official source does not make evidence immune from scrutiny. Being lazy and calling all those who question an encounter “terrorist sympathisers” does not answer the questions. Nor does it explain why the evidence was altered and if you can't find the maturity to search for more answers then you really have no business on the internet. The digital world is filled with false information and agendas competing to win you over. If the police want the public to trust their operations, they must be willing to earn that trust. We believe that someone is innocent until they have been proven guilty, the burden of proof is on those who make the accusation. The information released by KP police for this incident does not meet our standards nor should it meet the standards of anyone with any sincerity. The questions remain. Who altered the document, why, and will anyone be held responsible? If this was a one time mistake we could potentially sum it up to some sort of miscommunication or technical fault but this is a repeating occurrence. It is our duty to seek answers. @Insurgent_Zone
