#Update The admins at InsurgentZone conducted an open-source examination of the wreckage to determine what type of UAV crashed in Loralai. Our assessment: AAI RQ-7 Shadow / Shadow 200 reconnaissance UAV. The evidence: • The surviving wing carries the distinctive “NO HAND HOLD” stencil seen on RQ-7 Shadow wings in U.S. Army imagery. • The wing construction, panel layout and control-surface arrangement correspond closely with the RQ-7B Shadow. • The wreckage includes components consistent with the Shadow's distinctive twin-boom/pusher-propeller configuration. • The U.S. Army identifies the RQ-7B Shadow as a tactical ISR platform used for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition. • In January 2010, the U.S. announced plans to provide Pakistan with 12 RQ-7 Shadow UAVs to strengthen its ISR capability in operations against insurgents. Based on the physical evidence available, we assess the Loralai wreckage to be an RQ-7 Shadow, most likely an RQ-7B/Shadow 200. Identification is based on open-source imagery and available reporting; the exact airframe/serial cannot be established from the photographs alone.
