Samsung Wallet will add USDC transfers for eligible U.S. Galaxy users Samsung says USDC support will launch in Samsung Wallet
Samsung Wallet will add USDC transfers for eligible U.S. Galaxy users Samsung says USDC support will launch in Samsung Wallet during the last week of October 2026 for eligible U.S. users across 82 million compatible Galaxy devices. Users will be able to send USDC to compatible crypto wallets internationally, while transfers to eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries can be delivered in the recipient’s local currency. The stablecoin experience will be operated with Coinbase and Bastion, while Solana and Sui are among the infrastructure partners supporting blockchain connectivity. Why it matters: this puts stablecoin transfers inside a mainstream mobile wallet rather than a separate crypto app, potentially lowering friction for everyday cross-border payments. Sui’s Hashi prepares mainnet launch with $500M+ in committed capital Sui Foundation says Hashi, its native Bitcoin-finance infrastructure, will begin a phased mainnet rollout later in October, backed by more than $500 million in capital commitments from over 20 launch partners. Sui Hashi is designed to let Bitcoin remain secured on the Bitcoin network while hBTC is minted on Sui for use in Bitcoin-backed financial products and DeFi applications. Sui Anchorage Digital is joining the ecosystem to provide institutional custody and access, including qualified-custody settlement routes and stablecoin liquidity support. Sui Important distinction: the $500M figure is committed capital, not currently deposited TVL or verified on-chain liquidity. Why it matters: Bitcoin liquidity is increasingly being connected to programmable on-chain markets. Hashi’s launch could expand institutional access to Bitcoin-backed finance while keeping the underlying BTC secured on its native network. Source: Sui Foundation

Circle and SAP-backed Tereina bring USDC and EURC into enterprise payment workflows Circle and Tereina, a fintech company backed by SAP, announced a partnership to integrate USDC and EURC directly into enterprise payment workflows, starting with the SAP ecosystem. circle.com The goal is to let businesses send and receive stablecoin payments from the applications they already use, rather than operating separate crypto infrastructure. USDC will support dollar-denominated flows, while EURC adds a euro-denominated settlement option. circle.com Circle already supports USDC through SAP Pay, including cross-border supplier payments, intercompany treasury transfers and AP/AR settlement over a 24/7 settlement rail. The new Tereina partnership is expected to expand how those capabilities can be embedded across enterprise workflows. circle.com Why it matters: stablecoins are increasingly moving from crypto-native trading into corporate treasury and payments. Integrating them into software already used by large enterprises could lower one of the biggest adoption barriers: requiring companies to change their existing financial workflows. Source: Circle

Tether and Kazakhstan’s central bank explore tenge stablecoin and asset tokenization Tether signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Bank of Kazakhstan and the Alatau City Authority on October 7 to explore stablecoin infrastructure, real-world asset tokenization and decentralized finance. Tether The parties plan to study international stablecoin models and prepare a concept and pilot proposal for a tenge-pegged stablecoin, while also developing a broader framework for tokenized assets in Kazakhstan. Tether The agreement also includes the potential use of Hadron by Tether for an asset-tokenization pilot in Alatau City, with the parties expected to identify suitable asset categories and design the regulatory and technical model first. Tether Importantly, this is still an exploratory agreement — no tenge stablecoin has been launched or approved yet. Why it matters: a national central bank working directly with a major stablecoin issuer on both local-currency digital money and tokenized assets signals that sovereign-level blockchain infrastructure is moving closer to formal pilot programs. Cardano launches programmable token standard for regulated real-world assets The Cardano Foundation announced on October 7 that CIP-0113 is now live on Cardano mainnet, giving issuers of stablecoins, tokenized funds, bonds and other regulated assets a way to embed compliance rules directly into native Cardano tokens. Cardano Foundation The standard can enforce KYC and AML checks, sanctions screening, transfer restrictions, freezes and asset seizures whenever a token is transferred, minted or burned. The tokens remain native Cardano assets, and the upgrade required no hard fork. Cardano Foundation The Capital Markets and Technology Association (CMTA) has also recognized the Cardano implementation as equivalent to its CMTAT standard for tokenized shares, allowing eligible Swiss issuers to use it within the CMTA certification framework. Cmta Why it matters: regulated tokenization increasingly requires compliance controls to travel with the asset itself. CIP-0113 gives Cardano a native framework for that use case while keeping assets interoperable with the existing ecosystem. Source: Cardano Foundation

Ledger launches Bitcoin-backed loans inside Ledger Wallet Ledger has added a new Crypto Loan feature that lets eligible users borrow USDC or USDT against wrapped Bitcoin collateral directly inside Ledger Wallet. The supported collateral includes cbBTC and wBTC. Ledger The lending infrastructure is powered by Morpho and integrated through Yield.xyz. Users can monitor loan-to-value, add collateral, repay, borrow more or withdraw from the same interface. Ledger Ledger says private keys remain offline on the hardware signer, while loan-related approvals still require physical confirmation on the device. Direct access to Morpho markets is also being added for deposits, borrowing and vault interactions across Ethereum and major L2s. Ledger Why it matters: hardware-wallet companies are moving beyond simple custody and increasingly becoming gateways to on-chain financial services — while trying to preserve user-controlled transaction approval. Coinbase completes Deribit integration, creating a unified global derivatives platform Coinbase announced on October 7 that its integration of Deribit is now complete, creating what it calls the Coinbase Global Exchange. The company says the combined platform will connect U.S. and international crypto derivatives markets through a single regulated liquidity pool. The integration brings access to Deribit liquidity representing more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest as of September 30, while the venue processed over $1 trillion in trading volume last year. Coinbase plans to roll out Deribit-powered options, spot margin and unified portfolios in the coming weeks, alongside cross-portfolio risk management and margin offsets. Coinbase Pro is also set to return by the end of 2026 as a professional platform spanning spot, futures, perpetuals, options and equities. Why it matters: crypto derivatives remain the largest part of global digital-asset trading. Bringing deeper global options liquidity into a regulated U.S.-connected framework could reduce market fragmentation for institutional and advanced traders. Source: Coinbase

Solana launches institutional DvP settlement rail with J.P. Morgan input Solana Foundation has unveiled Solana DvP, an open-source delivery-versus-payment settlement program built for financial institutions. The system is designed to let the asset and payment legs of a trade settle atomically — either both complete or neither does — with finality measured in seconds rather than the one-to-two-day settlement chains common in traditional markets. J.P. Morgan contributed input on institutional settlement practices and requirements. The program supports SPL Token and Token-2022 assets and is intended for use by banks, custodians, exchanges and other settlement agents. Solana Foundation says the program has undergone external security audits and is ready for use with real funds, while additional privacy features are planned. Why it matters: this is another push to move institutional securities-style settlement onto public blockchain infrastructure using a standardized rail instead of bespoke smart contracts. The proposal covers 63 equities, including Nvidia, Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, Coinbase and SpaceX, with USDC, USDG or USDT pairs on permissioned Uniswap v4 pools on XLayer. Access would require identity, AML and sanctions checks. No launch date is given, and Cerebras Systems has objected. The notice does not represent SEC approval. Sources: Decrypt · OKX · SEC

CPR WEEKLY REVIEW: Bitget breach tests cross-chain defenses as custody rules advance The week’s defining event was the aftermath of Bitget’s Sept. 24 breach. The exchange resumed Bitcoin withdrawals on Sept. 28 and scheduled a phased return for Ether, USDT, other assets and P2P services. Its loss estimate rose to about $387.5 million; hot and warm wallets were affected, while cold wallets were not. Chainalysis attributed the attack to North Korea-linked actors. It traced 23 transfers across Ethereum, XRP, Zcash and Tron, followed by bridges, swaps and laundering services, including conversions into Bitcoin. Circle and Tether froze about $318,000, while Near Intents rejected over $50 million in associated swaps. The episode also exposed a practical limit: THORChain said its emergency controls cannot blacklist an individual address or transaction. Bitcoin was relevant on both sides of the institutional ledger. Strategy bought 1,665 BTC, bringing disclosed holdings to 847,666 BTC. Separately, the IMF’s $138 million disbursement to El Salvador came with renewed commitments to curb state Bitcoin involvement; Chivo’s majority ownership and operational control moved to a private operator, and the IMF said no further accumulation is planned beyond documented donations. In US policy, the SEC proposed a crypto-custody framework for advisers and regulated funds, including specified self-custody and a role for state trust companies. Comments will run for 60 days after Federal Register publication. At the same time, the ICBA sued the OCC over crypto trust-bank charters, arguing the agency lacks authority and creates uneven requirements. The court challenge makes the route from policy proposal to operating structure less straightforward. Tokenization continued to move from pilots toward live-record use. Brazil’s CSD BR began mirroring selected BTG Pactual fund ownership on XRP Ledger, while keeping its existing database legally authoritative and retaining transfer controls. Kakaopay Securities, meanwhile, opened exploratory work on tokenized Korean equities; it has neither named issuers nor set a launch date. CPR Weekly View — Facts show two parallel trends: regulated institutions are defining custody and recordkeeping models, while attackers continue to exploit cross-chain liquidity faster than controls can be applied. Next week, monitor Bitget’s completion of withdrawal restoration, any further tracing or recovery actions, the publication date of the SEC proposal, and developments in the OCC charter lawsuit. Chainalysis links $387M Bitget breach to North Korea-linked actors Chainalysis attributed Bitget’s September 24, 2026 breach to actors linked to North Korea, saying the theft pushed its measured 2026 crypto losses tied to such groups above $1 billion. About $387 million moved in 23 transfers across Ethereum, XRP, Zcash and Tron during the first three hours. Investigators traced cross-chain routes, including XRP-to-Bitcoin conversions. Circle and Tether froze roughly $318,000 in stablecoins, while NEAR Intents rejected attempted swaps exceeding $50 million. The attribution is not a public government finding. Bitcoin’s first block preserved a newspaper headline Bitcoin’s first block contains more than transaction data. Its coinbase field preserves a 3 January 2009 Times headline about a possible second bank bailout. ICBA sues OCC over crypto trust-bank charters The Independent Community Bankers of America filed a federal lawsuit against the OCC on Oct. 2, 2026, arguing that the National Bank Act does not authorize national trust-bank charters for crypto-focused companies. ICBA says these firms may face lighter capital, liquidity, supervision and FDIC-insurance requirements than community banks. The OCC declined to comment. The case remains unresolved and does not itself change policy. OCC records show OpenReserve received preliminary conditional approval for a proposed full-service national bank, not a final trust-bank charter. Sources: CoinDesk · Kelo · Occ
