Some of you may recognise him from that viral edit where he is asked whether Hitler is his hero, to which he replied “100%”. Herbert von Mildenburg has some amazing interviews on YouTube and Instagram describing his time as a child in the ‘illegal’ Hitler Youth before the Anschluss in 1938. He went on the fight in the Waffen-SS, surviving the war obviously, and being awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class at only 19 years old. His tale is so extremely fascinating and still to this day he recounts his memories of the Reich with fondness and passion. I highly encourage you all to have a look around on the above platforms to hear his story - it’s history worth remembering and its history you won’t find from any sanitised, kosherised retelling today.
