You Can Skip Answer Writing.
You Can’t Skip It’s Consequences.
"I will start writing from tomorrow."
"Let me finish the syllabus first."
"I will write once I feel confident."
Sounds harmless.
After all, one day without writing won’t matter.
Then one day becomes a week.
A week becomes a month.
And slowly, answer writing becomes something you keep planning — but never execute it.
Then Mains arrives.
The question looks familiar.
You know the topic.
But you struggle to structure your arguments.
You take too long to begin.
Your points don’t come quickly.
You can’t finish the paper on time.
And suddenly,
All those answers you planned to write start showing up as your weaknesses on the paper.
Because UPSC doesn’t ask —
"What knowledge do you have?"
It asks —
"What you can write on the answer sheet?"
The answers you skip during preparation, don’t disappear.
They become the practice that you never got.
The mistakes you never corrected.
The speed you never developed.
The confidence you never built.
So, stop waiting for the "right time" to begin.
Take a question.
Write it.
Find mistakes.
Fix them in the next answer.
Then do it again.
Because you don’t overcome the inertia of answer writing by thinking alone.
You overcome it by writing answers.
