The two butterflies above might look the same, but they aren't. 🙂
Most of the time, butterflies are trendy symbols used in drawings, tattoos, and designs to represent freedom, transformation mnamn...buttt, almost everyone uses the second butterfly shape for everything.
As a matter of fact, many living butterflies often rest with their wings held upright, with the forewings nearly touching above their heads. The spread wing butterfly we commonly use is also the pose most often used for preserved museum specimens because it displays the full wing pattern a.k.a dead butterflies.
So it's a little ironic that one of the most popular symbols of freedom is based on a pose we often associate with preserved ✨️dead✨️butterflies 🙂🦋
