🎮 Gears of War: E-Day Reveals Battle Royale-Inspired Crucible Mode
The Coalition has detailed Crucible, a new 4v4 PvP mode coming to Gears of War: E-Day. Teams must carry a Power Core to an active zone and hold it as the scoring area shrinks — a mechanic directly inspired by battle royale games, according to creative director Matt Searcy.
The Power Core limits carrier mobility and weapon options, but grants a short-range electrical charge attack capable of stripping flesh from enemies. The tradeoff creates high-pressure standoffs as the zone tightens around defenders.
Crucible is one of four PvP modes at launch alongside reworked versions of Team Deathmatch, Conquest, and Demolition. Team Deathmatch adds a dynamic respawn system, Conquest reimagines King of the Hill, and Demolition tasks teams with planting bombs on enemy territory.
Gears of War: E-Day launches October 6 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass.

🎮 GTA 6 Adds Criminal Profile System and Six-Star Wanted Levels
Rockstar Games has detailed two major updates to GTA 6's law enforcement mechanics ahead of its November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The new Criminal Profile system tracks how violently players handle crimes and escapes. Unlike the binary Wanted system of previous entries, it rewards restraint — players who commit crimes and flee without escalating are less likely to face severe consequences. Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson told IGN: "If you don't start shooting people, don't start escalating... you're generally going to be fine." The system isn't designed to make protagonists Jason and Lucia morally good — it simply reflects how aggressively players choose to operate.
The traditional Wanted system also returns, now restored to six stars — a level last seen before GTA 5 dropped it to five. Evading police will require changing vehicles and clothing, with Jason and Lucia able to split up to shake pursuit. A crime-specific icon system was also spotted in the gameplay footage, though full details haven't been confirmed.

🏢 Xbox CEO Backs Halo Revival as Co-Creator Doubts Microsoft Can Deliver
New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma told the BBC that Halo remains a "very key franchise" and that Microsoft is taking a "long-term view" on reviving it, promising "more news to share on Halo going forward."
The latest entry, Halo: Campaign Evolved — a remaster of the 2001 original released in July to mark the franchise's 25th anniversary and its PlayStation debut — was well-received but had a slow sales start.
Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, who no longer works on the series, warned online that a "fully featured Halo" game would likely cost $600M–$800M and take four or more years — spending he does not expect Microsoft to commit. He argued a "smaller indie team... with minimal management layers is probably the only viable way to make a great Halo again," describing large corporations like Microsoft as "terribly inefficient." For context, Lehto said Halo 3 cost around $40M to develop and Halo: Reach around $120M.
Multiple Halo projects are reportedly in development, including a live-service title described as "like Fortnite" and remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3.

A 12TB cache of Valve development files, reportedly covering every game uploaded to Steam between 2003 and 2013, has leaked online. The archive is still being combed through due to its size, but early findings include assets tied to the cancelled Half-Life 2: Episode Three, cut content from Portal 2, and builds of a scrapped Portal-universe title called F-Stop — built around a camera mechanic rather than portals.
The leak also appears to contain early builds of third-party titles including Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Mirror's Edge, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Dragon Age: Origins. Valve has not publicly commented on the leak.

Apparent work-in-progress footage from EA Motive's long-silent Marvel's Iron Man game has leaked online, surfacing on Resetera. The clip shows combat, characters, and customisation, with flight described as fast and freeform.
The footage carries an "Aug26" timestamp, suggesting it was created recently. Unfinished assets are visible throughout, and the video's editing style points to either an early official trailer or an internal presentation. One notable oddity: the Hulk is credited as "world director." EA has not commented on the leak.

🎮 GTA 6 Map Is Three Times Larger Than Red Dead Redemption 2

🎮 GTA 6 Reveals Fluid Co-Op Protagonist System
Rockstar Games has detailed how players will switch between GTA 6's two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, ahead of the game's November 19 launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Speaking to Dazed magazine, the development team described a fluid system where players can control both characters simultaneously — driving as Jason while scrolling a phone as Lucia, then seamlessly switching mid-chase to shoot from the passenger window. The two can also share a jet ski in separate seats.
Senior VP of narrative Rupert Humphries described the story as a "Bonnie and Clyde-type narrative." Players can choose to play as a couple or control either character independently. A separate gameplay leak, reportedly from the prologue, shows Lucia in prison — consistent with footage from the 2023 reveal trailer. Rockstar is set to showcase the game in full via a Netflix stream on August 27.
