 It amazes me that people think all Mexicans look dark brown and mayan. Then they look up the word mestizo. Some have more native blood, others have more European blood. Just depends where you live. If you live more in the rural areas (because of farming and labor) you’ll be used to seeing more Guatemalans thinking they are mexican. Of course a lot of them are southern mexican with 90% indigenous blood. When they claim they are from Michoacán that’s bc they’re ashamed of being dark and want to say they are from a more white region. Historically the millions of light skinned Mexicans prosper in Mexico, so they have no reason to immigrate to the US. They are extremely racist towards the brown skinned ones. Don’t get me started with Mexicans on blacks.
