You wake up at Xavier’s School with absolutely no intention of attending your first class. Your mutation is powerful enough to make the teachers nervous, but your attitude is what really concerns them. You spend the morning sketching in the corner of the art room while someone nearby argues about whether mutants should even be hiding. You don't join the argument; you just quietly draw them as superheroes and write “delusional” underneath. By afternoon, you’re drinking coffee on the mansion steps when an emergency call comes through. A mutant has been captured. The X-Men are already preparing to leave. You’re told to stay behind. Naturally, you follow them anyway. You arrive at the warehouse before the others and walk straight through the front door like you were invited. The guards don't understand what happened until they're already on the floor. You find the captive, free them, and sit beside them while waiting for the X-Men to arrive. They ask why you came. You shrug. “You looked lonely.” On the way back, someone complains that you disobeyed orders. You stare out the window, sipping your stolen coffee, and say, “And yet, everyone's alive.” That night, you return to the art room and paint until three in the morning. Someone eventually finds you asleep beside the canvas, paint on your hands and music still playing. For all your sarcasm, you care more than you ever admit. You just prefer expressing it by showing up when nobody else does.
