🦠 Infectious Mononucleosis (IM) 📌 Definition • Acute viral illness most commonly caused by Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) • Characterized by fever, pharyngitis, lymphadenopathy, and fatigue • Classically affects adolescents and young adults ——————————————- 🧬 Etiology & Transmission • EBV (HHV-4) → infects B lymphocytes • Transmitted via saliva (“kissing disease” ), sharing drinks/utensils • Incubation period: 4–6 weeks ——————————————- 🩺 Classic Clinical Features (Triad ⭐) 1. Fever 🌡️ 2. Pharyngitis (often exudative) 😷 3. Posterior cervical lymphadenopathy 🦠 Other common features: • Severe fatigue 😴 • Splenomegaly (important for complications!) ⚠️ • Hepatomegaly ± mild jaundice • Periorbital edema (Hoagland sign) ——————————————- 🩸 Laboratory Findings • Lymphocytosis (>50%) • Atypical lymphocytes (>10%) 👀 • Mild ↑ AST / ALT • Possible thrombocytopenia or hemolytic anemia (rare) ——————————————- 🧪 Diagnostic Tests 1️⃣ Heterophile antibody test (Monospot) • Positive after 1st week • Less sensitive in children <5 yrs 2️⃣ EBV-specific antibodies (Gold standard 🥇) Antibody VCA-IgM——Acute infection VCA-IgG——Past or current EBNA——Appears late → past infection ——————————————- 💊 Management • Supportive only 🛌 • Rest, fluids, antipyretics • ❌ No antivirals routinely indicated • ❌ Avoid ----------- 🚫 Activity Restriction • Avoid contact sports for ≥3–4 weeks • Due to risk of splenic rupture (life-threatening!) 💥 ——————————————- ⚠️ Complications • Splenic rupture 🚨 • Airway obstruction (tonsillar hypertrophy) • Autoimmune hemolytic anemia • Thrombocytopenia • Neurologic: meningitis, encephalitis (rare) 👉 @medspace22

أسئلة "جراحة عامة" مرحلة رابعة : *كذلك تفيد السادسة بامتحان نهاية الروتة النظري

كذلك هنا مثلا اجت كل التفاصيل صحيحة عن ال JIA ما عدا كلمة asymptomatic حذف a ف اجت بالسؤال symptomatic هاي هم ركزوا عليها بالاضافة تفاصيل anterior,posterior مرات يغير بيهم

شباب واحد من الاسئلة كان عن ال Trachoma و ذاكر كل التفاصيل صحيحة ما عدا ال serovars من وصل الها ذكر الانواع الخاصة بالمرض اللي قبلها و هو adult chlamydial conjunctivitis تسببه نفس البكتريا بس غير انواع ف انتبهوا لهيج اسئلة
