President CCHR Int’s Message  Be as enraged as I am—children need our help!   Dear Shoshi, After more than 46 years of working with CCHR to expose psychiatric atrocities, nothing is more sickening and enraging than the harm inflicted on children in the name of “mental health treatment.” With your support, CCHR Int has been collecting data on children being drugged under Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), which are key funders of mental health treatment—Medicaid paid $70 billion in 2020. These programs cover 39 million children, and with psychs claiming 1 in 5 children are mentally ill, that’s a potential 7.8 million children they could turn into billable "mental patients” for life. Recently, the Department of Health and Human Services announced a further investment of $190 million to advance “access to behavioral health services for youth.” This includes behavioral-psychiatric hospitalization, which currently lists patients as young as 4. Exposing the damage inherent in such “hospitalization”—especially in for-profit psychiatric hospitals—is a signature, vital campaign for CCHR. It has resulted in staff being prosecuted for killing youths with restraints. In this climate, juries recently determined two major for-profit psychiatric hospital chains must pay more than $1 billion combined to the families of an 8 and 13-year-old sexually assaulted while under their “care.” Two youth mental health residential facilities were closed after staff sexually abused teens. CCHR Int tracks all of this and, with your financial support, a special report on our findings will be produced for legislators, law enforcement, and federal agencies because there needs to be not only zero tolerance of such crimes and the drugging of children but follow-through action—psych facilities swiftly shut down.
