The recent UNSC vote on the admission of Palestine as a full UN member should be seen in this light. It would have created the basis for a two-state solution. Its veto by the United States was not just about Palestinian membership, but was a rejection of an international consensus, so overwhelming that America was the only nation to vote against it. An embarrassed State Department then let it be known that it wanted a two-state solution, but that voting in favor would have legally forced the United States to cut off United Nations funding. If such be the case, wouldn't the United Nations be better off without American funding? Actions count, and American Government actions shout out that the American Government wants a one-state solution with that state being Israel. However, Israel is no longer the militarily dominant power of West Asia. Iran is. Being blind to the results of its actions, the State Department made a decision that will aid the State of Israel in committing suicide. Statistics supporting the conclusion of national suicide are impossible to come by due to censorship and exaggeration on all sides. However, there are things that everyone admits. One is that there has been an increase in people leaving Israel without intending to return. How big is hard to gage. 50 thousand, 100,000, a million. Various figures have appeared. But, Prime Minister Netanyahu's son currently residing in Miami is indicative of more than one problem. He emigrated to Florida before the 7 October 2024 war began but has not been called back to Israel to serve his country. The country of choice, though, for most would not be Russia where only one tenth of one percent of the population is Judaic, but America, whose Judaic population is above two percent, the second highest in the world after Israel. Then, there is the Israeli economy. Estimates vary here, too. The figure of a 25% fall in the economy as a result of the 7 October 2023 war has widely appeared. Later, the figure of a 20% fall can be seen. The last time America went through something similar was during the Great Depression. Israel is already on life support. But, it has memories. It has arrogance and perfected the art of changing lies 180 degrees mid-sentence. And, it still has chutzpah, which is a double-edged sword. On an upward trajectory, it works wonders. On a downward trajectory, total collapse. And the speed of the downward trajectory is dizzying. First, bombing an Iranian diplomatic facility. Then, the Iranian response. Then, yesterday's failed counter-response. A young man set himself on fire on Friday afternoon near the Lower Manhattan courthouse where jurors were being chosen for the criminal trial of former President Trump. The man doused himself with accelerant at around 1:35 p.m. in Collect Pond Park, across the street from the courthouse. Onlookers screamed and started to run, and soon, bright orange flames engulfed the man. It was unclear what motivated his action. People rushed over to try to extinguish the fire, but the intensity of the heat could be felt several hundred feet away. After a few minutes, dozens of police officers rushed over and tried to smother the flames. The man, who appeared to be alive, was loaded into an ambulance and rushed away. An eyewitness, who declined to be identified, said that the man threw pamphlets into the air before he lit himself on fire. The man, who was wearing jeans and dark gray T-shirt, fell to the ground.
