Studio reno update for you today! Jack and the Beanstalk by Benjamin Moore is on the walls already. Isn’t that the coolest name for paint in a studio that mostly churns out kids clothing? Edgecomb Grey (Ben Moore) on the cabinets. White Dove (Ben Moore) trim. those turquoise rock cabinet pulls (centre left) go on the cabinets. White rattan light fixtures take the place of the old 90s fixtures. The underlay is on the floor ready for the peeled pine flooring. My grandma’s chair is the one you will sit in when you come to visit me and that gorgeous gorgeous green shaded lamp will sit by grandma’s chair. And plants. Again! I know the trend is edging away from farmhouse, but I feel like old doors, windows and ladders are a classic item that if done right can fit any style, except maybe the extreme modern. But even there, I think you could incorporate them if you did it right. So you will see those also when I give you the full studio reveal. Old things have such a story to tell….(except for 90s light fixtures!)

(no outfits to show you today ...) Renovations always start with a little idea that maybe a wall should be moved or the floor needs to be redone. And over time it expands. Ours is turning into a majorish overhaul like these things do and it's my studio's turn to get pulled apart! I can't wait to be back up and running in a completely refreshed and redone Happy Place!

In the end, I left my sash off because, well, I just didn’t like it I guess.🤭

(With ChatGPT’s help) here is a fun project I’ve been busy with for the last several weeks. Our teachers put on a historical social fair, covering all the main events that made Canada our wonderful country. Our son and his friend were assigned the Battle on the Plains of Abraham in 1759. These are the outfits I created for them. Most of the fabric (sturdy, tablecloths, sheets, etc.) was sourced at secondhand stores. Corduroy for the vests and breaches came from a shelf in my studio. Their mantels are 90 inch round tablecloths simply repurposed with a slit to the centre and a neck band. Amazon sold us the tricorn hats, wigs, and gold shoe buckles. Following are the links for patterns for the topcoat, waistcoat, shirts, and breaches.

Just for fun I smashed apart a coconut shell in my kitchen to see how easy they would be to make. I tell you what! Those coconut shells are hard and I sanded them for a very long time to get them smooth. I challenge you to try it! You’ll need a hammer and a firm thick cutting board (or concrete) for the first part. And then sandpaper and a very tiny drill bit for the holes. It’s rewarding. #pinny #cotton
