๐Ÿ‘€Earth and Moon as Seen from Mars The High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera would make a great backyard telescope for viewing Mars, and we can also use it at Mars to view other planets. This is an image of Earth and the moon, acquired on October 3, 2007, by the HiRISE camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. โœจPrivate space missions. In the spring of 2023, the crew of Ax-2 returned after 10 days in Earth orbit together with the astronauts of the ISS, where they conducted scientific experiments. The SpaceX Dragon Crew capsule landed off the coast of Florida on May 31 in the morning. This is the second crew of astronauts carrying out a completely private space mission. GALILEO GALILEI (1564-1642) A degreeless son of a court musician, Galileo Galilei was a rebel if there ever was one. The Italianโ€™s contributions are wide-ranging and impressive โ€“ pioneering several aspects of astronomy โ€“ and earned him the title of โ€˜father of modern scienceโ€™ (given to him by Einstein, no less). His work included fiddling with and improving the telescope (discovering a handful of astronomical features, such as a couple of Jupiterโ€™s moons, while he was at it), running experiments to show how gravity causes the same acceleration regardless of mass, and defending the heliocentric model of the solar system. Much of the latter philosophy stemmed from his predecessors and colleagues such as Nicolaus Copernicus (who first formulated heliocentricity) and Johannes Kepler (who refined the Copernican model and postulated three laws of planetary motion). Space debris Space debris are defunct human-made objects in space โ€“ principally in Earth orbit โ€“ which no longer serve a useful function. These include derelict spacecraft โ€“ nonfunctional spacecraft and abandoned launch vehicle stages โ€“ mission-related debris, and particularly numerous in Earth orbit, fragmentation debris from the breakup of derelict rocket bodies and spacecraft. ๐Ÿ˜ณIn addition to derelict human-made objects left in orbit, other examples of space debris include fragments from their disintegration, erosion and collisions or even paint flecks, solidified liquids expelled from spacecraft, and unburned particles from solid rocket motors. Space debris represents a risk to spacecraft. Subscribe ๐Ÿ”น Donate ๐Ÿ”น Advertise ๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธ Now I Know!  ๐Ÿ‘ฉ Unreal Beauty

Gravity assists, commonly used in space missions, take advantage of the gravitational pull of planets and other celestial bodies to accelerate or change the trajectory of spacecraft. By using these gravitational slingshots, scientists and engineers can save fuel and launch spacecraft on trajectories that would otherwise be impossible or more challenging to achieve. Doppler effect Astronomers use the Doppler effect (the change in frequency of waves from a moving source) to measure the velocity of objects in space, such as galaxies moving away from us due to the expansion of the universe. You have heard, for example, a car horn that passes by seems to go up in pitch as it approaches, and go down in pitch as it moves away. The Doppler effect is also observed with light emitted from galaxies and other luminous objects in space, receding from Earthโ€™s point of view, throughout our expanding universe. In this experiment, we will explore the Doppler effect with sound, and then extend these principles to astronomy in the context of light.
