There has been an explosion at a site belonging to BAE Systems, Britain's biggest defence firm, in south Wales. It happened at BAE Systems in Glascoed, Monmouthshire, at 10:49 BST on Wednesday, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said. Arestovich comments on Russian men eager to join the military:
Today, someone from the Russian opposition published such a post about his friend who came from Russia and told the following. There are a lot of men over 40 in hospitals treating themselves for chronic and current illnesses in order to be fit for the commission - to join the army. Because the army is a prestige, the army is payouts, the army is a family of a Hero and so on. And he says that he's amazed by the number of men who go there. And I'm amazed too. But not in the same way as the Russian liberal opposition. Because I understand what motivation is. I understand the difference when in the West they say: โNo, we donโt really want to fight for our country"; when in Ukraine they grab the men in the streets, and in Russia men go for treatment in order to fight against the West and Ukraine. This is not a good story for the West and for Ukraine. Very bad. And a very good story for Russia.

The draft law on the involvement of convicts in the defense of Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, adopted in the first reading, provides for the mandatory consent not only of the convicts themselves, but also of the commanders of the units where such separate special units will be created. According to the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, this initiative will help attract thousands of people to the defense of our state. This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee on the Organization of State Power (...) Olena Shuliak (...) "(...) The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the version of the draft law, which prohibits the mobilization of those convicts who have committed crimes against the foundations of Ukraine's national security, collaborators, people who have committed murders or committed other serious crimes. (...)" the politician said. "(...) convicts will be able to serve not only as privates, but also as sergeants and officers. (...)" Olena Shuliak emphasized. (...)Source

(...) Itโs not just that Ukraineโs forces are running out of ammunition. (...) the fighting spirit required to win. Morale among troops is grim, ground down (...). In cities hundreds of miles away from the front, the crowds of young men who lined up to join the army in the warโs early months have disappeared. Nowadays, eligible would-be recruits dodge the draft and spend their afternoons in nightclubs instead. Many have left the country altogether. (...) military officers privately accept that more losses are inevitable this summer. The only question is how bad they will be. Vladimir Putin has arguably never been closer to his goal. (...) The early burst of patriotic fervor which saw draft centers swamped with volunteers has evaporated. An estimated 650,000 men of fighting age have fled their country, most by smuggling themselves across the border.Source
