In yet more confirmation that deliveries never actually stopped, this "$1 billion aid package" is for a bunch of stuff the Ukrainians never seem to have run particularly low on. I'll post about this in greater detail when I get back on X Dot Com but basically this bill is a ratification of a bunch of enormous unauthorized commitments and transfers made after funds "ran out" and enough accounting credits to kick the can down the road for another few months. In fact given the money committed seems to have all been for new orders I'm not even sure if transferring all this stuff out of US military stocks is legal under its ostensible terms. Did anyone really think our elites would allow Ukraine to go without military aid because of MAGA congresspeople (whom they view as little more than traitors) holding it up? Of course not. The Biden Administration already set the Leahy Amendment on fire to give arms to Ukraine in flagrant violation of federal law, do you think they actually care about the Anti-Deficiency Act? Russian court orders seizure of JPMorgan Chase funds in VTB lawsuit JP Morgan Chase last week sued VTB in New York to halt its efforts to recover $439.5 million from an account that was blocked after Russia despatched its army to Ukraine in 2022 and VTB was hit with sanctions. The largest US bank said US law prohibits it from releasing the $439.5 million, and VTB, Russia's second-largest bank, will try to seize its assets abroad if it prevails in the Russia lawsuit. It said VTB's prospects there were good, with Russian courts having granted at least six other Russian banks relief against US and European banks that were required to comply with sanctions laws.
