When Neil came to us he had resting blood sugar levels that were regularly at 19. Heโ€™d been seriously struggling with diabetes for 2 decades. He also was dealing with severe amounts of stress that werenโ€™t helping. Obviously, this meant he was very concerned for his health. 10 weeks later after being on The Total Ahern Revival Course and he was a completely different man. For me, the dilemma I have always had, has been in sharing the truth around health, healing, and whatโ€™s truly at play in the world. I knew what I had to share around health and healing could potentially help thousands of people out of their suffering ... However, like everyone, I feared through doing this I may lose friends and family, and this has led to me having my own internal battles on whether I should speak out, share what I know to be true, or just keep quiet and blend in with the crowd. However, the truth and helping people has always meant more to me than being liked, so even though I knew it wouldnโ€™t be the easy route, for me the decision to share my story and help others was one I was able to come to quickly. However, I can definitely see why people would choose not to take this route. Not only may you risk losing your friends and family ... ... which should never happen, but it does ... ... but in todayโ€™s world of social media where news and views can spread like wildfire, and where the level of hate that can be directed your way in seconds can be huge ... it takes a lot of courage to be yourself, speak your mind, and stand up for what you believe in. It would, without a doubt, be much easier to toe the party line and blend in with the crowd. However, easy never led to anything worthwhile being accomplished, and if youโ€™re anything like me, then not speaking up when you feel itโ€™s necessary to do so, will leave you feeling like a small piece of your soul was removed ... and thatโ€™s never a good place to be. Whenever you find yourself trying to please others instead of being yourself, your respect for yourself diminishes, and after a while, you can forget who you are, and what you stand for. At the end of the day, having respect for yourself is the most important thing, because you are the only person you have to spend 100% of your time with on this earth. Itโ€™s you, who will be looking back in the mirror at yourself, nobody else. To stop this happening it is pretty simple, what you have to do, is keep on being YOU. (Simple doesnโ€™t mean easy, it means simple. The fact itโ€™s challenging makes it worth while.) Take pride in the fact that you donโ€™t blend in, and always remember ... You werenโ€™t put here to be like everyone else, you were put here to be YOURSELF. Itโ€™s your unique take on life, set of skills and abilities, coupled with your life experience, that makes you, YOU. Itโ€™s these things that allow you to make a difference. Never apologise for being yourself, because if truth be told ... The world needs more people that arenโ€™t afraid to live life on their terms and break free of the mainstream mould. Itโ€™s those people that give others the courage to do the same. And, although itโ€™s not an easy thing to do, itโ€™s definitely the most worthwhile challenge you will face. With all this being said, if I havenโ€™t convinced you that getting sunlight daily is a great way to improve your health, then nothing will. However, if I have, make sure you get yourself out in the sunlight daily for at least an hour. You can start by getting 15 mins sun exposure at sunrise, and 15 mins at sunset. Over to you... The most significant benefit: youโ€™re getting full-spectrum light that helps to regulate your circadian biology. The circadian rhythm controls many things, from the timing of hormone release to the need to poop in the morning. It is how we evolved to function, and itโ€™s the only way our hormones and biological systems can function as designed. Light coming into the eyes regulates the hypothalamus which in turn regulates the autonomic nervous system, energy balance, heat regulation, sleep, circulation, cell growth and maturation, and emotional balance. The hypothalamus also controls pituitary gland secretions (thus, melatonin production.) Melatonin is a hormone that, most importantly, signals to the body itโ€™s time for bed (exposure to artificial light hinders its secretion.) To make sure your bodyโ€™s melatonin production isnโ€™t interfered with, avoid blue light after sunset. You can do this by: - avoiding screen time as much as possible, - using blue light blocking glasses for when you - have to use a screen or device, (head to blublok dot com and use the code revive for a 10% discount), - turning your iPhone screen red, - replacing all the light bulbs in your house with Bedtime Bulb Low-Blue Light Bulbs - using candle light, instead of LED lights, after dark Another reason to avoid artificial light as much as possible is because of its links to cancer. A 1980 study found that the incidence of malignant melanoma (skin cancer) was considerably higher in office workers who were regularly exposed to artificial light compared to people who work outdoors. In fact, skin cancer rates have skyrocketed since 1900, yet most people work indoors. In 1900, 75% of people worked outdoors. In 1970, <10% of people worked outdoors. Today, that number is even smaller. Yes, there are other factors at play with the rise in skin cancer, such as the high number of chemicals people put on their skin each day, but the lack of light is a very big issue. And, contrary to popular belief, the amount of disease and death caused by avoiding sunlight is orders of magnitude greater than the amount of melanoma caused by sunlight. In fact, studies show that the countries with the highest forms of skin cancer, are those that have the least exposure to the sun. The uncomfortable truth for the medical industry is that sun does not cause cancer. In fact, sun exposure has been shown to ward off 16 different types cancer. (Obviously, you shouldnโ€™t get burnt... but avoiding the sun altogether is a sure way to decrease your health markers.) And, although you have probably been told to stay out of the midday sun, being in the sun between the hours of 10am and 2pm is the time weโ€™ve we generate the most vitamin D. Therefore getting sunlight during this time is best, just make sure to cover up once youโ€™ve had your daily dose. You also want to stay away from conventional sunscreens which are loaded with carcinogenic chemicals. (I will write more on that in another post later, but for now, you can head to the Revive Yourself website shop to get a clean sunscreen.) The sun also has tremendous healing affects on almost every skin condition known to man. It was Niels Finsen way back in 1903, who discovered that UV light from the sun killed bacteria responsible for tuberculous of the skin. Research has since gone in to show the sun has the same affect on fungus, parasites and other bacteria, which is why people with eczema, acne and psoriasis see their skin remarkable improve when they get adequate sun.
