Is this a common phenomenon or am I the only person who does not particularly like himself in photos. I guess I am not photogenic. But rest assured I look a lot better and cooler in person😉☺️. Those who have seen me in real life can confirm this👌

In my opinion, every IELTS candidate needs to keep up-to-date with the current affairs worldwide. This comes in handy when you are writing a task 2 essay or answering part 3 questions. This video is just one good example of the kinds of videos you can watch on YouTube to stay updated. In this way, you not only hone your listening and speaking skills but also learn some useful ideas and vocabulary. If you keep up this practice for 3 months or so, you would have a great repertoire of ideas and vocabulary to help you get 7.0+ in your IELTS exam. @Rock_IELTS 🚀 - Your Guide to IELTS Preparation!

Our next #video is up! This time we made it short and funny :) We all know that the national average for writing band 7+ is only 2-3%, that is 2-3 candidates out of 100. IELTS ZONE's average has been about 20%-25%! I can't even imagine anybody topping this figure... But the X-man is claiming he can pull it off... Do you think I should give him a chance? I think every IELTS taker needs to watch this video to realise that there is no list of band 9 words that can help them to score 7+ in the speaking and writing sections of the IELTS exam. There are no such shortcuts to IELTS. It takes time, hard work, patience, perseverance and consistency to gain a wide range of lexical resources. This cannot be accomplished in a short amount of time. People who are just memorising lists of 'band 9' words are wasting their time and probably their money. So, in short, if you want to take your IELTS exam successfully, then you need to follow the advice given in this video and be consistent in doing so. That is the real key to having rich vocabulary which will in turn leads to success in your IELTS exam. @Rock_IELTS 🚀 - Your guide to IELTS Preparation!

I really believe that the advice given in this video about how to make a good presentation applies to your IELTS Speaking Interview as well. If you did not watch the video, the advice this guy got to improve his presentation skills was: - speak louder (to make yourself clear) - look at the audience and make eye contact with people in the audience (the examiner in your case) - don't read from a script (here I want to emphasise that it is a terrible idea to memorise part 2 speeches. There are too many part 2 speeches for you to remember, and most of them are not really appropriate for people in Uzbekistan. Just keep in mind that when you give a memorised answer, it makes you sound as if you are reading from a script instead of being yourself and speaking naturally. This is why you shouldn't give memorised answers in the exam) - smile more (to appear relaxed and feel more confident) - use a personal story or experience as an example (to connect with the listener) I am sure that these tips will help you to get your desired score in Speaking. @Rock_IELTS 🚀 - Your guide to IELTS Preparation!

🇺🇿Writing task 2 in Uzbekistan — 12.08.2021 🔸More people are having a cosmetic surgery. Why is the case? Is it a positive or negative development? It is indeed becoming increasingly common for people to undergo cosmetic surgery in recent years. There are some reasons why this is the case, and in my opinion, this phenomenon should be seen as negative. There exist certain causes behind the increasing prevalence of people going through cosmetic surgery. One reason is the influence of celebrities on the public, particularly the impressionable youth. These popular figures often cite cosmetic surgery to be the key to their outstanding beauty, creating a strong incentive for their adoring fans to follow in their footsteps in order to look the same. Another reason is that cultural beauty standards have shifted considerably over the past few decades. Increasingly, people are expected to look a certain way to be considered beautiful. Their attempts to live up to those new beauty norms are causing rising demand for cosmetic surgery. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that this trend toward changing one’s shape with surgeries should be viewed negatively for several reasons. First and foremost, cosmetic surgeries cost a fortune, which puts them out of many ordinary people’s reach. Even if they were cheap, there is no absolute guarantee that they would work. There are cases where cosmetic surgery went terribly wrong, leaving people in awful states. Finally, there are concerns with regard to the long-term side-effects of even successful cosmetic surgeries. The potential consequences of having cosmetic surgery have not been fully examined since this is a recent development, which makes it a risky choice. In conclusion, while different causes of the growing trend toward cosmetic surgeries exist, it is my firm belief that this is a negative development for the reasons stated above. Do you struggle to remember new words that you have discovered? Do you want to improve your vocabulary, but you’re not sure what studying techniques to use? I spoke to some of our students who received a Band 8 and 9 and asked them which techniques they used to achieve such high scores. What did they tell me? You can find out by watching the video below. #personal_tip #Writing #Task_2 Today, I’d like to talk about writing task 2 essays. In my profession as a teacher, one of the most common problems I have had with my students is that many of them think that you just need to learn a bunch of ‘band 9’ vocab and grammar to get a high score. This couldn’t be further from the truth. In reality, I believe that your essays are as good as your ideas. Unfortunately, a majority of people in our country do not think globally. What I mean by this is that people do not have any interest in global problems and their related causes, effects as well as solutions. This becomes problematic when they learn to write task 2 essays which ask you to ‘discuss both sides of the argument’, ‘present the causes and solutions or causes and effects of one development’ or ‘argue one side in an argument outweighs the other side’. As a result, many get disappointingly low scores for their essays. To fix this problem, I recommend my students to get exposure to natural English and read around common topics in the IELTS exam. Topics such as education, work, environment and healthcare are really good examples of most common IELTS topics. If you want a good IELTS band score, you should be aware of what is happening around the world as an observer. What is happening to our environment? What changes are taking place in the workplace? What problems plague our education system? What can we do to provide free healthcare worldwide? If you have no idea about these questions, well… it is time for you to familiarise yourself on these topics by finding articles online and just reading them on a regular basis. That way, you build up your repertoire of ideas over time. It takes time, a long time to collect a wide range of ideas which can be used in your essays. So, if you are keen to get a high score in your writing, you must spend a good amount of time building up your base of ideas and learn chunks of language that accompany them. For instance, one problem of city life is the high cost of living. This is both an idea (it is expensive to live in a city) and a good piece of language to clearly express this idea (the cost of living). I am sure, you will definitely get your desired band score in task 2 when you have got a huge variety of ideas and the language related to these ideas. That is how you kill two birds with one stone and increase your writing score. Got it?!? @Rock_IELTS 🚀 - Your Guide to doing well in the IELTS exam!

🇺🇿Writing task 2 in Uzbekistan — 24.07.2021 🔸Research has shown that overeating is as harmful as smoking. Therefore, the advertising of certain food products should be banned in the same way as the advertising of cigarettes in some countries. To what extend do you agree or disagree? My sample essay: Overeating has been shown to be as detrimental as smoking. Therefore, it is argued that the authorities should ban adverts for certain food products just as they banned adverts for tobacco products in the past. I personally agree with this opinion. On the one hand, I can understand why people may oppose banning advertising of some food items. It could be argued that overeating is an individual problem, not a national issue. So, to solve this problem, people need to simply take personal responsibility for what they eat and how much they eat instead of blaming their own inability to control their food consumption on food companies. However, I disagree with this view because obesity, which is largely caused by indulging in overeating over a long time, is becoming an increasingly serious problem for many countries since it puts enormous pressure on healthcare facilities for its treatment. I also believe that advertising companies employ certain manipulation tactics to sway the viewer in favour of buying the advertised product. When people are repeatedly exposed to fast food advertising, for example, it often ends up creating an artificial desire to buy this kind of food items in their mind. As a result, these people become accustomed to consuming fast food products regularly under the strong influence of advertising and slowly grow obese or become overweight. Thus, individuals are left incapable of controlling their cravings for some food products if they get enough exposure to their adverts. This is another reason why I feel that the government should intervene and put a complete ban on the advertising of certain food items. In conclusion, due to consumers’ vulnerability and rising societal costs tied to obesity and overeating, advertisements of various food products should be completely banned. If there is one piece of advice I can give you based on my years of experience of learning and teaching English, it would most certainly be this: Nothing can even be compared to getting daily exposure to natural English. Getting yourself exposed to natural English on a daily basis is by far the most effective way to acquire this language. It is the most powerful thing that you can do to perform well in your IELTS exam. There are a number of ways in which you can get daily exposure to natural English: 1) You can watch videos, movies, films or documentaries 2) You can read articles, magazines, newspapers, books or journals. 3) You can listen to podcasts, audio books or the radio. And so on... The point is to do something in English every single day. So, to help you do this and improve your listening skills along the way, I recommend you to subscribe to this channel on YouTube. Ted-Ed is a really useful source of interesting videos for English learners. As well as enhancing your listening skills, it also helps you to get some ideas about common IELTS topics such as education, healthcare and science. I hope you make the most use of it and achieve your goals regarding English and IELTS. @Rock_IELTS 🚀 - Your Guide to doing well in the IELTS exam!

Could we build a wooden skyscraper? - Stefan Al
Explore the viability of wooden skyscrapers, and see how cross-laminated timber (CLT) helps make these once impossible structures possible. -- Towering 85 meters above the Norwegian countryside, Mjøstårnet is the world’s tallest wooden building, made almost entirely from the trees of neighboring forests. But as recently as the end of the 20th century, engineers thought it was impossible to build a wooden building over 6 stories tall. So how do wooden structures like this compare to steel and concrete skyscrapers? Stefan Al investigates. Lesson by Stefan Al, directed by Franz Palomares. The line graph compares 4 European nations (namely the UK, Sweden, Italy and Portugal) in terms of their medium carbon dioxide emissions per capita for 4 decades from 1967 to 2007. Overall, it is clear that whereas the level of carbon emissions per person in Italy and Portugal experienced varying degrees of increase, that of the UK and Sweden fell gradually and sharply over the period given. Also, the UK remained as the biggest carbon dioxide emitter. Looking more closely at the graph, we can see that the UK produced by far the highest number of metric tonnes of carbon dioxide per capita, at just below 11 tonnes, in 1967. The figures for Sweden, Italy and Portugal stood at roughly 9, 4 and 1 metric tonnes respectively. A decade later, CO2 emissions increased in all countries except for the UK. By 2007, the amount of carbon dioxide produced per capita in the UK had dropped steadily to about 9 metric tonnes. By contrast, that of Italy had risen gradually to under 8 metric tonnes. Interestingly, carbon emission levels per person for Sweden and Portugal had reached the same figure (over 5 metric tonnes), though the former country saw a significant decline, while the latter one saw a considerable rise. 🇺🇿Writing task 2 in Uzbekistan — 19.06.2021 The more a product is advertised, the more people will want to buy it. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? My sample essay: It is argued that advertising of a product is the biggest reason for growing sales figures. I, personally, disagree with this claim. On the one hand, advertising does play a key role in improving the sales of a product for several reasons. For a start, advertising lets producers introduce their products to the market in the hope of gaining new customers. This often leads to increased awareness of your product in the market and subsequently improves your customer base. As well as this, repeated advertising has the influence to instill in the mind of consumers a desire to purchase your product even if they do not need it. As a result, advertising can be an incredibly powerful tool in reaching high sales figures. Nevertheless, I firmly believe that there are other equally important factors in facilitating the sales growth of a product. Firstly, the functionality of the product is a major contributing factor to increased sales because high-quality products are rare but always sought after in the market. The second reason that compels people to buy a product is the durability of this product. This is because a well-made product will lead to substantial savings on the part of buyers in the long run. In other words, products made to serve a specific purpose well and last long are always favoured regardless of how much they are advertised. In conclusion, it is my opinion that advertising alone cannot account for an increase in sales as other equally significant factors exist. (250 words) (Band 7+) @Rock_IELTS 🚀

If you are strategic and clever, you keep Cambridge IELTS 16 untouched if your exam is not around the corner. It is better to start doing it about two weeks before your main exam. P.S I remember I was probably the first person to have shared all audios when the news of Cambridge 16's release broke the internet. Thanks to Bakhriddin aka, my friend and colleague from Navoi, I am sharing the pdf so that you guys have access to it first. P.S.S Dear channel owners, you don't have to watermark your channel's name or whatever other stupid ways you guys try to use to accrue more subscribers, but you simply can forward these if your real goal is to help in terms of finding materials. At the end of the day, most channels share nothing but materials. Usually unfiltered materials.

🇺🇿Writing task 2 in Uzbekistan — 05.06.2021 Today digital technology allows people to share all aspects of their daily lives on social media. Do you think this is a positive or negative development? My sample essay: It is true that people now can share everything about their day-to-day lives on social media thanks to technological developments. In my view, this new development could be seen as both positive and negative. On the one hand, there are multiple benefits of people sharing every detail of their daily lives on social media platforms. For a start, people can find out about other people who share the same interest and therefore make new friends online. Furthermore, you have the chance to build up a huge following and generate revenue from your audience by selling ads. At the same time, people could ask for all kinds of support from others on social media when faced with tough times. For instance, a person can reach out to his or her followers and ask them for advice on how to cope with the difficulties in his or her life. On the other hand, openly sharing our everyday lives on social media comes with its many drawbacks. Firstly, by sharing too much personal information, we run the risk of exposing ourselves to potential harm. People with ill-intentions could use our private details online for nefarious ends and put us under undesirable circumstances. Secondly, people are likely to be depressed by the ‘fake lives’ they constantly encounter on social media. Finally, using social media can be highly addictive and act as a substitute for our in-person interactions with other individuals, which would certainly lead to social isolation. In conclusion, it is my opinion that the growing trend towards social media use in much of the world should be viewed both positively and negatively.
