The girl received the heart of a 4-year-old boy declared brain dead after an aneurysm. This was the first heart transplant of its kind in Ukraine for children this young. The operation went smoothly, and the girl's mother was present during the procedure. Three more organs from the donor boy were transplanted to other children. 💔The Heart Institute has faced challenges operating during wartime, but they have taken precautions to continue surgeries even during air raids. The war has led to an increase in cardiovascular and chronic diseases due to stress.
